Community Update

It was a pleasure to welcome and celebrate our Redlands House, Preparatory and Junior School Mums and Carers on campus with coffee and classroom activities earlier this week. We also welcomed guests to our Junior Campus Open Morning on Tuesday where our Prep and Junior tour hosts did a magnificent job in guiding our guests through the Junior Campus, whilst openly sharing their experiences as a Redlands student and our talented musicians charmed all with their wonderful performances.  A common thread in my discussions with visiting parents and carers has been how impressive it is that our students are valued and known as individual learners and how they are challenged to develop and grow their unique passions and talents.

In National Volunteer Week, where Australia recognises the vital support that the millions of volunteers in our country provide to their communities, we acknowledge and thank the generous army of volunteers we are lucky to have here at Redlanders. The volunteers on our School Board, on Foundation Advisory and Sustainability Committees, Redlands Parents and Friends Association (RPFA), Parent Contact Groups (PCGs), Class and Year Group Parents and Friends of Groups (FoGs) all come together as passionate and dedicated volunteers to selflessly support our School and the wider Redlands community. All of the important groups of committed and passionate volunteer members highlight the vital role our wider community plays in the growth and prosperity of Redlands.

We recognise the vital relationship between home and school and provide opportunities for parents to actively engage with the School. Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity to meet other Redlands parents and to be involved with the School. Volunteer opportunities include classroom support, event support, Uniform Shop assistance, RPFA involvement or joining one of the Friends of Groups that support our many and varied Cocurricular activities.

Tickets are now on sale for the high anticipated Redlands Gala Ball that includes a gourmet three course dinner and drinks, live entertainment and dancing, auctions and raffles. We are delighted to announce that Redlander Catriona Rowntree (RL 1989), host of Australia’s top TV travel show, Getaway, will be our MC on the night. All proceeds from this gala fundraising event will benefit the Dr Sue Morey AM Scholarship Appeal. For more information on tickets and sponsorship of this uniquely Redlands event please visit the Foundation section of today’s Note Day.

Congratulations to Team Redlands who participated in the annual Mother’s Day Classic in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation last Sunday.  They not only completed the course but hit their fundraising target that will contribute to funding life-saving research to improve breast cancer detection, the development of new treatments, and allow people with breast cancer to live longer and better lives.  Well done to all.

I remain grateful for the continued guidance and support our community provides and, as ever, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Community Engagement team should you have any feedback, suggestions or questions.
