Community Update

The International Women’s Day 2023 Campaign Theme of #EmbraceEquity has been embedded and celebrated through a number of community events and assemblies this week at Redlands. We have a long and proud history of women leading the way, stretching all the way back to the founding of the school in 1884 by Clara Arnold and Elizabeth Liggins, and we continue to continue to actively support, promote and embrace equity both here at Redlands and in our wider community.

With our Autumn Fair just around the corner (next Saturday, 18 March), and an early bird discount still available, now is the perfect time to secure your ride passes and coupons. Autumn Fair is a day centred around food, fun and entertainment, showcasing the community’s diversity and talent. Here’s what you can expect to see and do:

The Entertainment Quarter | Join us in the Fahl Garden where students will be showcasing their musical and dance talents throughout the day. Special guest Jamie from ‘Jam on Toast’ will entertain our littlest kids from 10am.

Sideshow Alley | Traditional Fair Games, Crazy Hair, Face Painting and the ever popular KindiFarm will be in place, as well as some fun carnival treats including Popcorn, Fairy Floss, Snow Cones and Lollies.

Food Precinct | Celebrating Redlands’ cultural diversity, enjoy foods from Asian and Latin American cultures as well as a traditional BBQ. The Alumni Cafe will serve barista made coffee and offer handmade cupcakes by members of the community. Gelato and sorbet will also be available.

Rides | Redlands Lane, Lone Oak and the basketball court will be converted to a ride wonderland! Rides can be accessed with an All-Day Rides Pass or coupons for single entry.

Thank you to our dedicated and passionate volunteers who continue to put their hand up in support of the Autumn Fair. Further details on the Autumn Fair and how you can help on the day can be found in the RPFA section of Note Day, along with information on the wide range of other parent and carer events that continue to connect our community.

It’s always a pleasure to celebrate the exceptional achievements of our alumni, and this week Redlanders from different eras are in the spotlight. To read about the remarkable achievements of Alison Hattersley (RL 1926) and Dr Jennifer Butler (RL 1975), along with other Alumni and Foundation Office news please visit our Foundation section.

I remain grateful for the continued guidance and support our community provides and, as ever, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Community Engagement team should you have any feedback, suggestions or questions.
