Community Update
It was lovely to experience the coming together of staff, students, staff, alumni, our Board and special guests in celebration of Heritage Week. As a community, we value the relationships we have with each other. Our students past and present, families, staff and members of local and global communities are valued and included through a shared connection with Redlands. Foundation Day, to be celebrated tomorrow, provides us with the unique opportunity to share and connect our past with the present and future of the School.
Our Liggins Building, a precious part of Redlands’ heritage, is the only remaining element of our school grounds that links almost 100 years of Redlanders. Originally known as Liggins House, the building was opened on 9 May 1923 in honour of Redlands’ co-founder Elizabeth Liggins. Throughout its history, our community has generously supported some of its upgrades, including the 2007 Liggins Atrium Project enjoyed by students today. In preparation for the Liggins Building celebrating its centenary year in 2023, we are embarking on a significant restoration to help preserve its historic façade and refurbish the interior to provide an exceptional learning environment for our students and staff. For more information on how you can support this treasured building please visit our Foundation section.
As you know, we have been working on improving our parent, student and staff digital user experience, in particular our communication channels with families. We are excited to announce that in Term 3 we will be launching both a new website and a significantly enhanced Pulse and App that is more personalised. As we transition to these new platforms we will of course keep you informed of the enhancements made and provide you with support and guidance throughout. Thank you for your feedback within this important and exciting process and we encourage and welcome your continued advice as our digital enhancements are implemented.
At Redlands, we have a standing commitment to sustainably managing our resources whilst continually engaging our students and the wider community in this endeavour. Last week we launched our Worn Up initiative that diverts old school uniforms from landfills and upcycles them into new products like school desks and acoustic tiles. For more information on this terrific initiative, as well as an update on other Redlands community activities and events please visit the RPFA section.
Save the date – we are delighted to announce that the Spring Fair is back and will take place on Saturday 3 September. We will share further details on this much loved Redlands community event early next term.
I remain grateful for the continued guidance and support our community provides and, as ever, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Community Engagement team should you have any feedback, suggestions or questions.
