Community Update

Community Update

I look forward to attending our end of season Basketball dinner this evening in celebration of another exceptional season of success and growth for our students and coaches. My thanks and congratulations to all of the Friends of Groups, or FoGs as they are affectionately known, who support various activities across the school, be they educational, cultural or sporting.

Being part of a FoG enables parents and carers to support the building of a strong and positive sense of school community through:

  • Connection – by forming a supportive network that welcomes new members to the activity
  • Support – by undertaking encouraging, energetic and respectful support (of all participants) at events and matches, organising social activities through the year and an annual end of season celebration dinner
  • Assistance – many activities require active assistance such as timekeeping or scoring, assistant refereeing or marshalling or making uniforms, costumes, props or scenery

As our Summer Sport FoGs start to relax a little, our Winter Sport FoGs are gearing up for the season ahead and I encourage our community, where possible, to volunteer some time to connect, support and assist within the FoGs. A reminder that FoGs have been established for Basketball, Drama, Football, Hockey, Music, Dance, Netball, Rowing, Rugby, Sailing, Touch Football and Snowsports.

With the end of another term in sight, the Redlands Parents and Friends Association (RPFA), Parent Contact Groups (PCGs) and FoGs continue to actively bring our various groups together both socially and operationally. A number of end of term and term break events still remain in the calendar and these can be found here.

I remain grateful for the continued guidance and support our community provides and, as ever, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Community Engagement team should you have any feedback, suggestions or questions.
