Sweet Success: Join The Gardening Club

This week at the Gardening Club,  we witnessed an extraordinary moment as Calvin Macnab from Year 7 harvested a massive sweet potato during our Monday lunchtime session. This achievement not only showcases the potential of our garden but also the dedication and enthusiasm of our young gardeners.

The Redlands Gardening Club meets every Monday and Thursday during lunchtime on the LH Rooftop. It’s a vibrant space where students come together to:

  • Grow and harvest fresh produce
  • Design and personalize garden sections
  • Choose and plant a variety of produce
  • Engage in digging, watering, and mulching activities
  • Build essential plant supports
  • Enjoy delicious snacks straight from the garden

Whether your child is a novice or an experienced gardener, everyone is welcome to join. The Gardening Club is more than just about plants; it’s about community, creativity, and contributing to a greener school environment. Together, we can cultivate not only a beautiful garden but also lifelong skills and friendships.

The goal of the Gardening Club is to make our school greener and more sustainable, one plant at a time.

Checkmate Thursdays: Join the Redlands Chess Club!

Every Thursday at Redlands, lunchtime in room H.19 transforms into a lively chess club gathering. This weekly event has become a staple for students eager to engage in the strategic world of chess. With tables filled with boards and pieces ready to battle, the club welcomes players of all skill levels—from seasoned veterans to curious beginners.

The atmosphere is enriching and supportive, allowing members to connect through friendly matches and spirited conversations. Each game is not just about winning; it’s an opportunity to learn and grow, with players often exchanging tips and strategies.

Adding to the excitement, the chess club hosts competitions that are the highlight of the semester. These events attract participants from all grades, igniting a friendly, competitive spirit. Players concentrate fiercely, while friends stand around to support them, fostering a sense of community that enhances the entire experience.

As lunchtime ends, conversations about tactics and memorable moves linger, reinforcing friendships formed over the chessboard. At Redlands, the chess club is more than a game; it’s a thriving community where enthusiasm for chess unites students and sparks great connections.
