Chaplain

Grace towards others is an important value in my life. It is captured in the values of Respect and Compassion in the school values and is daily reminder of the frailty of humanity.  The Lord Jesus showed grace towards us that while we are still antagonistic towards him and fall far short of his perfection, he holds out his arms with love and forgiveness. His death and then resurrection was with specific intent: to provide a means to restore us to his presence and friendship. In the words of the Lord Jesus, we need only to “repent and believe” and this great gift can be ours as well. (Mark 1:15)

As my life is transformed by his saving grace, it begins to change my perspectives of those around me. I remember the possibility that there is more going on in that person’s life that I may not understand and so I should cut them some slack. Think about how many people we encounter in a day: those who change lanes in front of you, who do not see you when you really had right of way, the one who is taking a long time to make a choice at the shop, the harried shop attendant, the slow pedestrian, the tardy student, the one who seems to speak harsh words to you…the list is endless. Showing grace means we see the person as more than just the irritation or offense and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Redlands is a school in the Anglican tradition that seeks to give students the opportunity to understand the Christian faith in a relevant and accessible way. The Redlands Parents’ Prayer Group provides our current parent community with the opportunity to come together in prayer. The Group is tonight (Thursday, )4 November  from 8pm to 9pm via Zoom.  Please contact Sally Swan (Mum to Annabelle Year 12  and Adelaide Year 7) at swanlsally@gmail.com for further information and the Zoom link, it is not too late so send an email to Sally.

May each of you come to know the life-transforming grace of Jesus and be filled with his love and peace,

God bless you and your families,

Bronwyn Lihou and Fiona McKenzie
