Chaplain
Redlands students are urged to “let their light shine” for the benefit of others. These words spoken by Jesus were to encourage the disciples to live out their faith in a way that brought honour to God. Our students are taking up this mantle and using their musical ability to serve the community in Chapel.
Chapels on Monday and Friday on the Senior Campus have enjoyed cello, trumpets, clarinets, drums and violins in producing great music to accompany the students singing. I have also appreciated the students who have bravely sung at the front, leading the less stronger singers among us. This has added a great dimension to our singing and increased the community identity as we gather for Chapel.
Similarly, on the Junior Campus, students have been participating in Chapel in a variety of ways. Individual classes in Kindergarten to Yr 2 have begun to lead Chapel for their peers. The class teachers have done an amazing job supporting their students in this process. They take the allocated Bible story and plan how the story will be told. They might act out the story, make a movie, complete some art works or even host a quiz show as a means of helping students to gain an understanding of what the Bible teaches in a particular story and how it might relate to us today. The students lead prayers and choose which songs will be sung during the Service. A special feature of this process is that the students are able to invite their families to attend the Chapel Service which they lead.
It has been our pleasure each Monday to welcome, parents, grandparents, siblings and family friends to our Chapel Services.
