Student News

Dante Minassian continues to go from strength to strength. He auditioned for the Bolshoi Sydney Summer School and was awarded a part-scholarship. Over the holidays he went down to Melbourne for personal visits at the ABS and also participated in the Semi Finals of the YAGP. If that wasn’t enough, Dante has just received notification that “The Australian Ballet is pleased to engage Dante as a child supernumerary in Stanton Welch’s Sylvia at Joan Sutherland Theatre, Sydney Opera House commencing on 30 October 2019”. Congratulations Dante! We hope many of your peers and parents get a chance to see you perform. 

Another talented dancer, Chloe Scamps, competed at the Time to Shine Eisteddfod on Saturday and won the 12 Years and Under Jazz section with her solo routine. Chloe has also been selected to compete in the National Finals. Well done Chloe, what a terrific result!

EOYC

Our parent information letter has been sent out to Yrs 1, 2, Junior and Senior Dance students. Please let us know if you did not receive it and read it carefully as there is detailed information regarding rehearsal and performance times. The letter is also posted on Redlands Pulse.

Parents have been sent a request for approval for the rehearsals at The Concourse leading up to the concert. Please approve to ensure we can take all students on the buses without issues.

The End of Year Concert tickets will go on sale on Tuesday 29 October at 10.00am. Please contact The Concourse or call 1300 795 012 (Ticketek).

2020 Enrolment

2020 class enrolments are now open. Please note that you must respond by 11 November with any changes to the student classes in 2020 to avoid late fees. Again, if you did not receive an invitation email to enrol, please let the office know.

Preparation for EOYC – Sewing / Working Bees

Our sewing bees are now in full swing. A lot of people joined us last Saturday and the help we get with costuming is invaluable! Come along for an hour or the full day, it doesn’t matter. We love to have you join us for whatever time you can spare. Dates are 26 and 31 October and 2 November from 8.30am – 2.00pm.
Even if you can’t sew, we have plenty of jobs that involve creating, glue-ing, tidying and organising. 

It’s a great way to catch up with other Dance parents so come along for a chat.

Concert Volunteers 

We would love your help backstage on Concert days especially with students hair and make-up. Here is the procedure:

• Volunteers email the Ballet and Dance office with your intention to help, include your WWC number and ID.
• List of volunteers sent to Redlands HR for Verification and Clearance to work with children
• Cleared Volunteer List sent to Parent Coordinator
• Volunteers attend a Concert Hair and Make-Up Tutorial (2nd Nov)
• SignUp Genius link sent to volunteers to pick their chosen volunteer time slots on Concert Days

Curriculum Dance

Congratulations

Congratulations to Yr 8 Curriculum student Brontë Backhouse, who was named 13/U National Champion in Jazz at the Get the Beat Eisteddfod national final at the Sunshine Coast. Brontë worked hard to qualify to get to finals by making the top five places in each of her Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz and Open Style categories. She received a diamond score (over 95) for her Jazz performance Dark Horse. Congratulations Brontë!

EOYC

Yrs 8-11 Curriculum Dance will be performing at the annual Ballet and Dance Concert on Friday 29 November. All costume information has been provided to students.  A letter has been sent out to all students detailing the rehearsal and performance times. Please let us know if you did not receive it. The letter is also posted on Redlands Pulse.
