Students Achievements
Keeping our fingers crossed for our current Dance Captain, Jennifer Psaroulis, and Emma Green (Yr 12) who will be taking part in Callback 2018. Jen will be showcasing Emma Green’s Core Composition performance. All the best!
We have also had news that Tadgh Robinson, who left last year to join the Australian Ballet School, had a wonderful welcome by another Redlander Hannah Sergi who left for the ABS in 2015. Happy reunion!
Welcome
Our newest member of the team is the beautiful Miss Marcia’s baby, little Zoe Kuzmanoski. She was born on 24 January and both mum and little Zoe are doing really well. Congratulations!
Contemporary and Jazz Auditions
The Contemporary auditions took place last week together with the remaining Jazz auditions. There was an overwhelming number of students attending and the standard of dance was exceptionally high. The Academy would like to thank everyone who came for the day – everyone did extremely well which made the selection process extremely difficult.
More updates in regards to Eisteddfod dates to come shortly for the Performance Groups.
Ballet and Dance Academy Scholarship Auditions
The Ballet and Dance Scholarship auditions were held on Friday 8 February. We welcomed over 20 girls and boys to try for the 2020 Scholarship. The Academy was extremely proud to welcome the esteemed external adjudicator, Ms Jo Ansell, to support the selection process.
External Auditions
We are very excited to announce that Karin Ellis-Wentz, Head of the Pre-Professional Program at the Joffrey Ballet School Chicago, will be in Sydney on 14 April. She’ll be looking for promising dancers and offering positions in their five week Chicago Summer Intensive which runs from 17 June to 19 July 2019.
From last year’s audition of 93 Australians, eight were accepted with one scholarship given. Three Australian students are there full time: Max Jones, Tianna Koolloos and Alicia Mason. The Joffrey is hoping to offer more spaces this time.
The Joffrey Academy in Chicago is the only official school that feeds directly into the Joffrey Ballet Company (unlike the Joffrey NYC school). If you are interested in an overseas opportunity or simply to gain more experience in the art of auditioning please follow this link.

New Uniform
We have a new top for Jazz and Contemporary. Prep and Junior Ballet students can continue to wear their Ballet leotard with shorts to Jazz classes.
The Jazz top will become mandatory by Semester 2 for all Senior students but we will encourage all new students to purchase. Please ask in the Uniform Shop (not Bloch) for the new Ballet and Dance Jazz top.
