Academy Update
It was wonderful to have so many of our Prep and Junior Students turning up to school this week, fully equipped to have their hair done for class, and teachers were thrilled to hand out stickers. Reminder to parents, please pack a hair kit for dance: no hair kit no sticker!
Senior ballet dancers had their Mock RAD exams on Sunday which went smoothly. Redlands Ballet and Dance Academy teachers Kate Larter and Samantha Simpson (who is an RAD examiner) where thrilled with the standard of the students work and just want them to present themselves with confidence by showing their love of dance through every movement.

Redlands Ballet and Dance are thrilled to welcome Georgia Tindall to the Academy.
Georgia grew up and trained on the Northern beaches of Sydney. Starting at the age of 4, she developed a strong passion for all things Dance.
After completing high school at Brigidine College, St Ives where she was awarded Dance Captain in Year 12, Georgia studied Full Time Dance at Brent Street in 2021 receiving a Diploma in Performing Arts.
From there, Georgia completed an online mentorship throughout Covid lockdown with AAFTA Dance International, Los Angeles. Learning from some of LA’s top performers and choreographers was a truly inspirational contribution to her dance journey.
In early 2022, Georgia joined The Dream Dance Company’s Show Business program led by renowned choreographer Marko Panzic. As well as being given the opportunity to showcase her choreography on stage, this program further developed Georgia’s strong interest for creating her own work.
In August of 2022 she moved to New York City to train in Broadway Dance Centre’s Professional Semester program. Georgia gained knowledge and inspiration from a variety of leading New York choreographers.
Georgia looks forward to sharing her passion with our wonderful students.

Students of the Month – May
‘Students of the Month’ is an initiative that recognises students that demonstrate exemplary behaviour and dedication in all aspects of Redlands dance. This award is an opportunity for students to be recognised by staff and students in the Academy, as well as celebrated with the wider Redlands community.
Years 7-8
Year 8 student Juliet Whelan!

Juliet Whelan has been a focused and determined student in all her classes and private lessons. Over the April holidays, Juliet attended the Australian Ballet School’s ‘Intestate Training Program’.
Juliet about the experience: “I had such an incredible time down in Melbourne! I learnt so much information from the lovely teachers that I can then take into my everyday classes.”
Juliet also competed her classical solo choreographed by Mrs Revie at the IRBD dance competition! Juliet placed 3rd, which is an incredible achievement for her first solo in pointe shoes!
Congratulations Juliet!
Years 9-10
Year 10 student Imogen Jeffery-Billich!

During the April holidays, Imogen flew to Wellington, New Zealand and competed in the prestigious Alana Haines Awards. For the competition, Imogen performed the ‘Lilac Fairy’ variation from Sleeping Beauty, coached by Mrs Revie and a contemporary solo choreographed by Ms Jennifer.
Imogen found that, “The Alanah Haines Awards were an amazing experience where I was immersed with incredible, talented dancers from New Zealand and Australia. I’ve learnt a lot from this competition and am looking forward to applying this to my current dance training at Redlands.”
In addition to her overseas experience, Imogen attended the Redlands RAD Advanced 2 workshop in the second week of the holidays. Imogen’s commitment to her training is very commendable, and she consistently proves herself to be a wonderful role model in the academy.
Congratulations Imogen!
Years 11-12
Year 11 student Summer-Eve Smyth!

Summer Smyth has been an incredibly devoted member of the dance community. Over the April holidays, Summer attended the Redlands RAD Advanced 2 workshop, an incredible commitment for a student in their senior studies.
Summer also represented Redlands in the IRBD dance competition, where she was awarded first place in the Open Broadway Jazz category! We are incredibly proud of Summer and this achievement, which is a true reflection of the hard work she has put into every class and private lesson over the last few years.
Congratulations Summer!
