Drama and Theatre

Drama and Theatre

What a term it has been! It has been a privilege to see the passion and patience, resilience and resourcefulness of the Drama and Theatre team, parents and students. From Preschool to Yr 12 our programs have adapted and our students have continued to reap the benefits and support of being involved in these empowering creative pursuits in a Term 2 like no other. We look forward to Term 3 with some exciting opportunities ahead.

Gala Arts

Following the postponement due to COVID-19 we are pleased to announce that Gala Arts will be taking place in Term 3, but in a modified format.

The event will take place using Redlands venues, with separate finals for the categories, and will be professionally filmed and edited for release in Term 4. Dependent on restrictions there may be a limited audience but this is yet to be confirmed.

Although this will be different from the regular event, we hope it will nevertheless allow for a wonderful celebration of House spirit and the amazing talent in the Arts we have at Redlands. The categories will be judged as usual, with winners being announced in Term 4.

Dates

Instrumental and Vocal: Saturday 19 September
Theatre, Dance and Multi-Disciplinary: Sunday 20 September
Visual Arts photography competition will be run via iLearn.

Performing Arts finalists will be announced on Thursday 25 June at 3.00pm, and a link to the list will be posted in the Student Leader’s iLearn page.

Thank you to all auditionees for your wonderful performances, and also for your patience and understanding as we worked out a way to run Gala Arts this year.

Congratulations to all the finalists. More information about timings and rehearsals will be distributed in Term 3.

Solo Showcase

27 and 28 July in the Drama Studio

Yr 12 IB and HSC students will be presenting their individual major works in Performance, Theatre Criticism and Design for their final examination. They will be stepping on to the stage for their solo showcase and we will invite families and friends to view footage of their major works through iLearn. We wish them all the very best as they work on these important practical components of their course.
