IPSHA Sport
There are a few minor changes to IPSHA Yr 3 Football this week. Yr 3 Blue will now play Newington at 8am at Tempe Reserve and Yr 3 Red are now playing against Coogee Prep at Heffron Park – Robey Road Maroubra, (Oval near Des Renford Pool).
CIS AFL Boys – State Champions
Isaac Brooks and Gianmarco Pradel are now NSWPSSA Champions after their CIS team took out a very tense Grand Final in the State Championship gold medal game in Batemans Bay last week. Isaac and Gianmarco join the long list of Redlands NSWCIS Representatives, but only a select few have tasted victory before at this level. Isaac drew particular mention from the coaches for his courage, relentless running and attack on the ball through the whole tournament, especially the gold medal match up against Sydney North. Gianmarco’s clever positioning, superb team first attitude and fearless attack on the ball were a highlight.
HICES Cross Country Champions
Orange is a long way from Sydney and our 42 strong Cross Country team made the trek last week to defend the HICES Division 1 Cross Country Championship and did so in emphatic style. Redlands won their third Cross Country Championships in as many years. There was a great atmosphere and huge amounts of support and encouragement for all of our runners, who battled the challenging hilly and slippery course really strongly. Many of our runners finished top ten to earn themselves a place at the CIS Championships. A full list of our HICES Reps to CIS will be available next week. Congratulations to all of our team members who relished the challenge of being favourites, showed great team spirit, fair play and sportsmanship in retaining the title.
Football
Our Yr 5 C team had a great 1-0 win over Newington Lindfield last weekend at Macquarie University. It was great to see so many girls battling away against the all boy opposition. The Yr 4 Blue team were more dominant in their six goal victory – again sharing the scoring by gender and players against Shore.
Hockey
Another draw for our amazing Hockey girls. This time 3-3 in a goal scoring feast at Pymble last week. Our team has been gelling together beautifully and last week’s all out attack made for s super exciting and entertaining match against Ravenswood.
Netball
Our netballers looked the part and showed great support for the McGrath Foundation at NSNA’s Pink Round at Willoughby last week. Redlands 13 ground out another nailbiting win getting up 5-4 in their fifth one point margin game this season. Redlands 14 turned the tables on their opposition battling to a 3-3 draw after having gone down to their opposition in Round 1. The Redlands 14 girls are improving with each game and, as they enter their second round of matches against teams, it’s really great to see their improved performances turning into points.
Rugby
As our Rugby boys develop, there is more and more to be impressed with. Last weekend it was our Yr 5 players who showed the way! Oscar D’Almeida, Toby Luce and Joshua Salis really impressed. Oscar and Toby in the forwards where their hard work provided plenty of solid ball for the backs. Hugo Scott made the most of his opportunities and Josh Salis showed a clean pair of heels when given an inch of space to score the first of what looks to be many exciting tries.
