Welcome Back

Thank you to everyone for your warm welcome. My first week at Redlands has certainly been a steep learning curve however I very much appreciate the kindness and guidance from staff and parents who I have met in these first few days. As I stated earlier in my Welcome to Term 2 letter, I encourage both parents and students to come and talk to me to introduce yourselves and to give me a brief run down of which Year Group you belong to this year and anything else that you would like to share. The more conversations I have, the faster I will get to know this wonderful community.

Term 2 has started successfully with a return to remote learning. After a few minor glitches on day 1, we were up and running with our Daily Planner providing us all with a view of how the day would look. I know our teachers and I enjoyed the Zoom sessions immensely. These sessions brought a smile to the faces of both students and teachers alike. The enthusiasm to reconnect was infectious. I must say my favourite part of the week was meeting you all at our first online Prep Assembly. Seeing smiling faces and giving me a thumbs up was a heart-warming experience. I can’t wait to meet you all face to face. A big thank you to all those students who posted a picture or video of something that was special to them. The messages on Seesaw have been just beautiful. Watch this space to see what the Week 2 challenge will be!

Parent / Teacher Interviews Weeks 2 and 3

Thank you to those families who have filled in their timeslot to talk with their classroom teacher. This is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s learning in Term 1 and also it will give the staff a chance to outline ‘where to next’ with their learning. Any feedback surrounding Seesaw as a learning platform or the delivery of remote learning itself won’t be discussed at this meeting. Please continue to provide any comments you have to feedback@redlands.nsw.edu.au.

Weeks 3 and 4 – Phased Return to On-Campus Learning

The letter from Mr Webber earlier today outlined our plans for returning to On-Campus Learning in Weeks 3 and 4. Please be assured that the health of students and staff will remain paramount in this process. More detailed information will be provided to families tomorrow.

Semester 1 Reports

Semester 1 reports will be written and distributed this semester as normal and the timing will be confirmed with families as soon as possible. Staff have sufficient evidence from both on campus and remote learning to provide comments. NESA has also released a statement that gives some guidance for staff when assessing and reporting at this time.

Library Books

From Week 3 onwards, students who are rostered on to come to school can bring in their library books on that day to swap over. They will be taken to the Library throughout the day in small groups. Parents who wish to swap over their ‘big borrow’ from the end of Term 1 are asked to email Victoria Roberts in the Library. She will put together a new ‘big borrow’ for you and leave it for pick up at the Prep Reception desk.
