Battle of the Bands

Friday 3 April at 6.00pm in Redlands Hall

Tickets to the event will be sold throughout Week 10 (Lunchtimes in the Quad) or through the Secondary Music Office from Tuesday 24 March. The evening is a competition showcasing Rock Bands from Yrs 5-12 and raises funds to support students travelling to Cambodia at the end of this year. The competition commences at 6.00pm and the Cambodia team will be serving a BBQ and various other food stalls at intermission (approx. 7.00pm).

The Music Department would like to congratulate all students who prepared for the Battle of the Bands auditions this past fortnight. With many students participating in the audition process, the final selection of performers was incredibly difficult. Congratulations to the following students who have been selected to compete in this year’s event.

Musicianship Lessons

Redlands students are able to participate in Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) Musicianship lessons on either the Junior Campus or Senior Campus.

Classes for Junior School students are on Tuesday (7.30-8.15am) and Secondary School students on Tuesday and Thursday (7.30-8.15am). We encourage all students interested in pursuing theoretical examinations to commence these lessons with our Music Theory tutors. Please contact juniormusic@redlands.nsw.edu.au if you are interested in joining these classes.

Extra Subjects and Cocurricular Music Ensembles Programs

Enrolments for Term 1 tuition are now closed. Term 2 enrolments close on Friday 3 April.

Senior Campus

Study Centre

In providing additional learning support for Senior students (Yrs 11-12), the Department is currently running specialist composition tutorials for students who are preparing creative portfolios as part of the Higher School Certificate and International Baccalaureate studies. Students in the courses have been issued with a link to sign-up for sessions in working with Academic teachers and assigned Music tutors over the coming fortnight in the lead-up to assessments.

This support program for Academic Music Studies will also be providing additional learning experiences in the areas of Musicianship, Aural Skills, Microphone Technique and many other useful workshops. Students in Yrs 8-10 Music Elective will be provided with a schedule over the coming fortnight for sign-up in Term 2.
