From the Principal

A key focus on both the Senior and Junior Campuses for the past couple of weeks has been STEAM activities. This week has seen students in Years 8 and 9 working in teams on two separate STEAM projects. Year 8 students have been looking at the Great Barrier Reef and creating innovative ideas and solutions for the environmental issues faced by this World Heritage Site. The focus for Year 9 students has been energy sustainability, specifically evaluating the School’s energy usage and developing plans for the School to minimise its carbon footprint and reduce electricity consumption and costs. These STEAM projects follow on from the recent STEAM day undertaken by Year 4 students. Today Year 2 students participated in a Science incursion and tomorrow sees Year 5 students visiting the Senior Campus Science laboratories to gain hands on experience in a dissection, while Year 3 students will participate in a Kaleidoscope Science incursion.

I wish to congratulate the following five Year 12 students who have been nominated for SHAPE, the HSC Design and Technology showcase, for their major works: Mia Boys, Grace Elliot, Liam Hayford, Benjamin Kittle and Madeline McCormick. Well done to the students and to their teachers who have supported them throughout the year.

I also advise that our new branding has now been extended to our website and the updated website will go live mid next week.
