Junior Sport
NSWCIS Athletics
Our Junior Boys 4 x 100m relay team, made up of Daniel Benoleil, Jeffrey Benoleil, Ash Corn and Joel Dail, have really raised the bar for athletics in the Junior School. Qualifying for the final after gruelling heat and Semi Final races, the boys raced in Lane 8 – the toughest lane to run in and despite having no vision of their competitors ran an incredible 57.13 seconds to narrowly miss a medal, by just 0.03 seconds. The fourth fastest ten year old schoolboy relay team in NSW is a pretty big statement and with the finishing speed of Joel Daily, if the race had gone another 2m they’d be in the medals. What a team and what a time!
Joel also managed a pretty heavy workload during the Carnival, qualifying for the 100m Semi Finals after a strong heat run and then jumping just short of a PB in the Long Jump to claim the Bronze medal in a nailbiting Long Jump Final.
IPSHA Mixed Basketball
Trinity Grammar hosted our A – D teams and learned quickly that despite having extra height and physicality, translating that into points against our energetic defence is difficult. Meanwhile speed and skill of our teams across the board meant points in quick bursts and our A, B and C teams were all victorious, despite being outmuscled around the court.
Our E, F G and H teams were equally as dogged, making life tough for their bigger opponents with what has become a trademark for Redlands basketballers. Heart and hustle. G and E teams both came away with emphatic wins.
Cricket
Redlands cricketers took on Shore last weekend and created all sorts of havoc bowling first on a bumpy pitch taking 14 wickets in their super eight encounter. Rowan Petersen took his first five wicket haul and was supported by tight bowling across the whole attack. Max Garvey, Liam Petersen and Rory McMillan all chipping in with two wickets apiece. Yr 4 cricketers Ryan Doherty and Rohan then showed the way by equal top scoring with ten runs each. Max Garvey and Rory McMillan showing we’re a team of all-rounders, both scored nine each after impressing with the ball.
Netball
Congratulations to Ava Mills and Scarlett Cortes who have advanced to the final stages of Rep trialling for their respective NSNA Netball teams. NSNA is a strong association with a long history of success and to be at the level they are now, in either state age title contention or development team, is a huge result after a long commitment. Well done girls.
Sailing
Our Wednesday afternoon sailors continue to enjoy the best that Sydney Harbour (and weather) has to offer.
Tennis
Our team fared well again last week against Cranbrook and played some great Tennis in both doubles and singles. Zach Ressas continues to impress with his strong singles form, whilst Harrison Meagher and Leonardo Vaccarezza were untouchable in their doubles match. Both Harrison and Leonardo converted their strong form into singles as well with strong wins against Cranbrook. Keith Liu impressed with a tightly contested singles win.
Our players ranked in positions 9-16 enjoyed a morning of match play in an internal series of singles matches at Cammeray. The team and skill level is really building and the quality of play over the multitude of singles matches was impressive to watch.
Our ranks 9-20 are invited to another series of internal matches on the Last Saturday of regular term sport – Saturday 23 November from 8.00-10.00am.
