Please familiarise yourself with the non-School uniform days requirements on Page 21 of the Student Planner. Unacceptable casual attire includes:
- Torn clothing or clothing with holes
- Thongs or open footwear
- Ill fitting clothing (too tight, too loose)
- No short shorts or skirts
- Tops with offensive words, symbols or signs
- Midriff tops
- Singlets
- Sheer or translucent fabrics without lining or suitable under-garmet.
Teacher Appreciation Day
The Teacher Appreciation Day morning tea will be held on Monday 18 November. The Prefects would really appreciate if students in Yr 8 could bring baked goods (cookies, cupcakes, brownies) on Monday morning. A reminder that Redlands has a no nut policy. The Prefects will be around the Liggins Quad/Canteen area on Monday morning to collect all your food. Thank you so much in advance for all your efforts!
Yr 8 STEAM
This week, the STEAM and Pastoral teams have been working with Yr 8 to creatively find solutions in protecting our environment by looking at the declining Great Barrier Reef due to overfishing, climate change or human impact. Students have been defining and discovering problems, dreaming of future visions and designing solutions. On Friday, students will produce a prototype and partake in a STEAM Expo, promoting their innovative ideas to Yr 7. The top five presentations will be awarded. Congratulations to all involved.

Winter School 2020
Even though summer is about to hit us, it is time to get ready for Winter School 2020. In our historic 25th year of operation, this is an experience not to be missed. This year we are getting started early to help everyone plan ahead for the year to come. The Winter School Information Night will be held in Redlands Hall at 6.00pm on Monday 18 November. Applications open on Monday 11 November. The online application form and information about Winter School can be found on Redlands Pulse.
Toys ’n’ Tucker
This year Redlands is coming together and sharing the Christmas joy with people in need by collecting for Toys ‘n’ Tucker. We are seeking unwrapped donations of non-perishable Christmas food items and toys. All students are encouraged to bring in something to contribute. Items will be collected during Tutor Time throughout Term 4. A list of suitable donation items can be found here.
Fiji Service Learning Opportunity
Next year, in the 2020 October school holidays, students from Yr 9 2020 will have the opportunity to travel to Fiji and immerse themselves in Fijian life. This is the fourth year that Redlands has partnered with Rustic Pathways to provide this opportunity for Yr 9 students.
The trip is split into two sections. The first is spent in a highlands village, where students are accommodated via a homestay program and engage in a range of cultural immersion and service activities. Following this, students return to the coast at Rustic Pathways Momi Bay Base. During this time, students work with a Marine Biologist to assist and learn about environmental management of the surrounding reef and coastal area.
This program gives students a wide range of experiences, whilst developing their understanding of the Fijian culture. It is designed to both educate and challenge students, helping them to embrace the concept of being a global citizen.
All parents and students are invited to find out more at an Information Evening on Thursday 28 November at 6.15pm in the Roseby Library on the Senior Campus. Any questions should be directed to Mr Colyer at scolyer@redlands.nsw.edu.au.
