Redlands House/Transition Gold
Please note that all Upcoming Events for Redlands House/Transition Gold are now on the Prep/RH Upcoming Events Note Day page.
This Redlands House/Transition Gold page will consist of general information from the Head of Preparatory School.
Native Bees
The Preschool has a native beehive that hangs on the fence of the playground. Elke Haege, a landscape architect and native bee specialist, visited the Preschool today to clean and maintain this habitat. These lovely small, stingless native bees allow the children see them in action and how they work to pollinate our native plants. The children were very curious and enjoyed watching Elke as she worked. Native bees only produce a small amount of honey, but the children were eager to have a taste.
Kindergarten and Transition Gold Orientation Day
On Wednesday 13 November, students moving to Kindergarten or Transition Gold in 2020 at Redlands, will be attending their Orientation Day. The day will commence as normal with a regular drop off at the Preschool, where Redlands House staff will collect students and accompany them to the Prep area for the day. The teachers will tailor the day for the students, whereby they will be able to play in the playground, eat morning tea and lunch, and explore the classrooms. This will enable staff to familiarise themselves with all children as they participate in the stimulating Kindergarten and Transition environments. Students can be collected at the end of their day at the Preschool. Students who are leaving Redlands at the conclusion of 2019 will remain at Redlands House on this day and participate in a variety of experiences and activities.
2020 Kindergarten Information Session and Morning Tea
On Wednesday 13 November at 9.15-10.00am, there will be an Information Session and Morning Tea for all 2020 Kindergarten parents in the Arnold Library on the Junior Campus.
Redlands House Seniors and Transition Gold End of Year Concert
To celebrate the end of the year, our Senior and Transition students perform a concert for parents, families and friends. A dress rehearsal will be held on Wednesday 20 November, with the concert being held on Wednesday 27 November. More details can be found on Upcoming Events.
Diwali Celebration
On Wednesday 30 October the Preschool will be celebrating Diwali. Diwali, known as the “festival of lights”, is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn every year. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil and hope over despair. Redlands House will have activities and experiences for the children to participate in on this day. Please let your child’s teacher know if you would like to help with this celebration, or if you any suggestions.
Nutrition Seminar
On Friday 1 November, we are delighted to have Kate Flynn from Orbit for You give a seminar on the importance of nutrition for children. Kate is passionate about educating people about their bodies and she regularly writes and lectures for major institutions on Health and Well Being. We all know the important role nutrition plays in a child’s physical and mental development. Kate will assist us to understand how to provide the best start for our children and develop healthy eating habits. The seminar will take place in the Lucy Hill Library in the Preparatory School at 9.00am. We hope you can join us for this wonderful opportunity.
