Year 9
Interesting Article of the Week
At times, mobile phones are confiscated at school due to inappropriate use during the day. These phones are then returned to the student at the end of the day and have sometimes been sitting on my desk during this time. I have noticed increasingly how many of these phones are consistently buzzing during the day, and have upwards of 40 Snapchat notifications during just a few hours! Therefore, this week I have attached an article, which includes a TedTalk, on the addiction of Snapchat and the idea of Snapstreak. It makes really interesting listening and reading and raises some concerning issues as to why teenagers can’t put Snapchat down.
Study Guides
Yr 9 Yearly Examinations will be in Week 4 of Term 4. Examination notifications with study guides are now available for students to access on iLearn. Students will be able to download these study guides from the respective Course pages for each subject that they are enrolled in. Please encourage your son or daughter to download these guides so as they can appropriately prepare for Term 4 examinations.
Pastoral Care Program
Students are continuing to look at Mindfulness activities and implementing them during Pastoral Care time. In addition, we have had the final Yr 12 Prefect Assembly and students have also completed their approaches to learning for this term.
Social Awareness Program
Students are finishing off their presentations of organisations addressing inequality for refugees, or coming up with ideas as to how they can support or increase awareness for these organisations.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
