Winter School
Last weekend students and staff headed off for a much-needed Exeat Weekend. Classes wrapped up on Thursday afternoon and after a quick visit to Jindabyne, everyone headed home for a catch up with family and friends. Thank you to all the staff who transported students to and from Cooma and Canberra, making sure they met up with their families safely.
On Monday we welcomed everyone back, ready for the final four weeks of the Program. On Tuesday we jumped straight into classes. Students in Yrs 7 and 8 enjoyed their Science lesson in which they dissected cow kidneys and a heart. Many were surprised at the size of the cow’s heart and the number of vessels it contained.
“It was surprising how many holes (vessels) there were in the cow’s heart!” Julia Murphy.
“I didn’t realise how big a cow’s heart was!” Sienna Leisk.
In Tutor Time, students explored the topic of resilience and discussed some of the highs and lows of their Winter School experience so far. With only four weeks to go, students brainstormed strategies to make the most of their remaining time here and in the evening wrote a reflective piece in their journal around what the next few weeks should look like for them.
With Spring in the air, we’re looking forward to another great week of Skiing and Snowboarding before it softens up too much.
As the final week looms closer we encourage everyone to continue to take advantage of, and immerse themselves in, all the diverse opportunities and experiences Winter School has to offer.
