We are very proud of our dance teacher Brianna Law who was recognised as one of the key people behind an anti-bullying performance, recently touring NSW schools. A theatrical journey about life in the Australian schoolyard. The performance had significant influence on the students and we congratulate Brianna for delivering such important and fantastic work. Awards Night – Buy tickets now! Exciting evening to come!
The Ballet and Dance Awards Dinner will be held on 19 September at Manly Golf Club. All students in Yrs 7-12 have been invited to attend. Awards (Yrs 8-11) and Certificates (all Yr 7) will be announced at the dinner and special guests will join us. Let us know if you missed the invitation and we’ll send it to you or use the following link.
With only two weeks to go until our dinner, we really need some more Raffle Prize donations. Our Senior Dance Students are donating two hampers:
Luxury Food Hamper: Yrs 7 – 9
Chocolate Hamper: Yrs 10 – 12
Students, if you have not yet done so, please add your item to the collection in the Office.
All Parents, please donate any item big or small and we will package them up with other items. All proceeds go towards purchasing a Portable Barre and Costuming so all students will benefit. If you are stuck for ideas here are a few:
Book Vouchers, Beauty Products, Massage Vouchers, Jewellery, Dance Wear, Stationery, Tickets, etc.
We will also have a ‘Guess How Many Lollies in The Jar’ Competition so please bring along Gold Coins.

Sewing/Working Bees
Next term we will be holding our Sewing Bees in the lead up to the concert. Dates are 19, 26, 31 October and 2 November. Even if you can’t sew, we have plenty of jobs that involve creating, glueing, tidying and organising. It’s a great way to catch up with other Dance parents so come along for a chat.
Concert Volunteers
We would love your help backstage on Concert Days especially with students’ hair and make-up.
The procedure is as follows:
- Volunteers email the Ballet and Dance Office with your intention to help. Include your WWC number and ID.
- List of volunteers sent to Redlands HR for verification and clearance to work with children.
- Cleared Volunteer List sent to Parent Coordinator.
- Volunteers attend a Concert Hair and Make-Up Tutorial (2 November).
- Sign-Up Genius Link sent to volunteers to pick their chosen volunteer time slots on Concert Days.

Hair and Make-Up Tutorial
Please attend our Hair and Make-Up Tutorial on Saturday 2 November.
Each year the requirements are slightly different so even if you have done this before please come along to see what’s new in 2019.
Virginia Burmeister (Hair) and Virginia Clayton (Make-up) will be giving demonstrations between 10.00-11.00am.
New Dance T-Shirt Available
Unisex Redlands Ballet and Dance t-shirt is available for purchase from the Uniform Shop. Sizes are available for Girls/Womens and Boys/Men, the price is $30.
Spring Holiday Workshop
The Spring Holiday Workshop for our Senior Students will be held in Parkes Hall on the following dates: 30 September, 1 October and 2 October. We are excited to welcome back Mr Kit Lethby, ARAD PDTC (Dip.) Royal Academy of Dancing Vocational Graded Examiner to the Academy to run these workshops this year.
9.30-11.00am – RAD Intermediate Foundation
11.00-12.30pm – RAD Intermediate
12.30-2.00pm – RAD Advanced Foundation
2.00-3.30pm – RAD Advanced 1
Please let us know whether you will be attending or classes may be cancelled.
Last Classes Term 4 for Pre-Primary and Primary Transition Classes
There will be an In class Christmas Presentation during the last class of Term 4. These classes will not be performing in the EOYC at the Concourse, Chatswood. See Redlands Pulse for details.

Curriculum Dance
Independent Dance Festival
Redlands Dance 1 will be performing at the annual Independent Dance Festival on Friday 6 September at Inaburra School. The Festival is an exciting opportunity to showcase excellence in Dance in Independent Schools. It is being made available to students from Kindergarten to Yr 12 from Independent Schools in the Sydney region. The Festival is an initiative created to develop a network of dance in Independent Schools, to further develop the performing arts culture in Independent Schools as well as providing performance opportunities for schools and students. If you would like to attend this event, please click here. Please note that the tickets are free, however you will still need to book so you are allocated a ticket.
