Greenlands Week – 5/6 September
As part of our celebration of Greenlands Week in Week 7, there are a number of environmental themed activities led by the Environment Prefects and Prefect body.
Thursday 5 September: Redlands will be hosting a school community screening of 2040 at the Orpheum Cinema at 6.00pm. All proceeds from this event go towards environmental initiatives at Redlands. Bookings can be made through TryBooking.
Friday 6 September: The Secondary School will be holding a mufti day with a gold coin donation (funds raised going to GCF). Students may wear green or animal themed attire on the day. All proceeds will go to the Giraffe Conservation Program at Taronga Zoo.
Yr 10 Visual Arts Students
The Annual Redlands Yrs 3-12 Visual Arts Exhibition is on display this week in Redlands Hall. Viewing is available all week and until 1.00pm this Friday. Our Yr 10 students have their Architectonica sculptures and drawings on display and Yr 12 artworks are showcased at this exhibition.
Student Exchange Scholarship
Best wishes to Bethany Richardson as she departs for twelve months on student exchange to France. Bethany is the recipient and one of four winners of the Language Immersion Student Exchange Scholarship through Southern Cross Cultural Exchange. We wish Bethany all the best as she takes up this new challenge and wonderful opportunity.
Track and Field
Congratulations to Emma Mahon who competed at the Australian Cross Country Championships over the weekend at the Kembla Joggers Cross Country Park. Emma finished 73rd out of a very strong field of 100 talented runners from across Australia in the 15/16s Girls 4k. This caps off a strong Cross Country season for Emma.
Congratulations to Max Currie, Riley Fitzgerald, Samuel Harrap, Jonah Koppers and Lauren Wong who represented Redlands at the 1st Invitational Track and Field Carnival at SOPAC over the weekend. All athletes came away with season’s best results in their Track and Field events. This Saturday, the final invitational event will be held at E.S Marks.
Swimming
Olivia Donoghue competed at the NSW Swimming Championships over the weekend. She received a personal best time of 27.89 in the 50m Freestyle coming 14th overall. The difference in times between 3rd and 14th was 4/10th of a second! Well Done Liv!
Snowsports
Congratulations to the following students who competed at the NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships in Thredbo: Tessa Clement, Nick Goerner, Lachlan Green, Jack Malycon, George Murphy, Lucy Roberts, Hannah Tobin, Yoojung Weir, Zekejoonwoo Weir and Tylor Wessels.

Division 2 Snowboard A teams event: Nick Goerner and Tylor Wessels and their team finished in 1st place.
Division 1 Alpine A teams event: Nick Goerner and his team finished in 6th place.
Division 2 Alpine A teams event: Lucy Roberts, Yoojay Weir and their team finished in 11th place.
SKIX Division 1 A teams event: Jack Malycon and his team finished in 8th place.
THE SKIX Division 2 A teams event: Lucy Roberts and Yoojay Weir finished in 10th place.
Snowboard Division 2 A teams event: Lucy Roberts and her team finished in 3rd place.
Snowboard Division 2 B teams event: Tessa Clement and her team finished in 9th place.
Snowboard X Division 2 A teams event: Nick Goerner, Tylor Wessels and their team finished in 3rd place.

Music
Alex Kim supported Yr 12 student Tara Sahagian during the Yr 12 Showcase on Monday evening. Alex played as part of a trio and his performance was superb.
The piece played was Flute Trio in G Minor by C.M. von Weber.
