Year 10
Paul Dillon Presentation
Tuesday 18 June 2019 6.00 – 7.30pm Redlands Hall
Teenagers, alcohol and other drugs 2019: What’s happening, what’s out there and how much influence do parents really have?
On Tuesday, Redlands is pleased to welcome back Mr Paul Dillon to speak to our parent community. Paul has been working in the area of drug and alcohol education for the past 25 years and presents to many schools and community organisations in the Sydney area. This will be a parent focussed presentation and please understand that Paul will be speaking to our Yr 10 students separately in class time as part of our Pastoral Care program. He aims to help students to make informed and measured decisions, to take increasing responsibility for their behaviour and to consider the consequences of their actions.
Student Achievements
Two of our Yr 10 students have been selected for state level sporting teams. Sofia Stuckmann has been selected for the NSW Junior Volleyball team and Gus Miller has been selected for the AFL NSW/ACT U16 RAMS team. We wish Sofia and Gus every success and congratulate them both for their significant achievements in selection for these state teams.
Matthew Talbot
The Matthew Talbot Hostel provides accommodation and specialised support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The service aims to provide immediate support and accommodation for people at the time of crisis as well as facilitate access to other essential services and more permanent housing. These services range from provision of nutritional meals, clothing, showers and basic medical to intensive case management, legal and housing support, specialised health care, advocacy and providing a safe, welcoming environment for people who are sleeping rough and have experienced trauma. The Hostel employs a multi-disciplinary team, allowing for a coordinated and client centred approach to care and support. Many thanks to our Yr 10 families who have already generously donated to our Matthew Talbot sock drive. In addition, thank you for supporting the $25 donation for our Winter Sleepout. This is such an important event for our Yr 10 students, and we appreciate your support and encouragement of this initiative.
CIS Cross Country
CIS Cross Country was held today. Emma Mahon, James Barrelle, Olivia Donoghue and Jonah Koppers represented Redlands as part of the CIS Cross Country team. More details to follow.
