To celebrate the very important School milestone of 120 years of Redlands Sport, we were delighted to host a Sports Luncheon for the Redlands community last Friday. Five Redlanders entertained the audience of parents and friends with their personal stories of competing on the international stage in Rowing (Janusz Hooker, Class of 1987), Rugby (Lachlan McKay, Class of 2000), Sailing (Karyn Gojnich, nee Davis, Class of 1978), Snowboarding (Holly Crawford, Class of 2001) and Swimming (Gergaynia Shelley, nee Beckett, Class of 1957) over the past 60 years.

Beginning with the initial sports of Tennis, Cricket, Cyclos (like Badminton) and Croquet played at Redlands after the School moved to its current Military Road site in 1899, Sport education has long played an important role in our curriculum, enabling students to develop the skills and behaviours our Redlander athletes espoused during the luncheon. These skills such as teamwork, resilience, mental toughness, challenge and learning from mistakes are often far more important learning outcomes than the scoreboard results.

Thank you to the Redlands Foundation team for organising such a wonderful function, to our Sailing partners at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron for hosting this special anniversary luncheon and to Ski Japan, People + Culture Strategies, Launch Travel and all our other sponsors for making the event possible.

Yesterday the Junior Campus was awash with colourful costumes as our Preschool to Year 6 students celebrated our cultural diversity and international awareness on International Day. Curriculum lessons had an international focus and a number of parents came to school to share their own international backgrounds and experiences with students, while Prep School students also enjoyed participating in an International Dance incursion.

A big thank you to the members of the RPFA, led by Jo Lloyd and Maria Kinsela, who organised the second hand uniform sale last Sunday. The sale raised $5,458 which the RPFA have very generously donated to the Redlands Scholarship Fund.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all members of the Redlands community a restful break over the school vacation period and a very happy Easter, and look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Tuesday 30 April wearing winter school uniform.
