Head of Secondary School
It’s been a wonderful Week 4 on the Senior Campus and Week 2 on the High Country Campus. This week, we launch a new ‘note’ to our Note Day, with a weekly feature from Mr Edward Atkins, our Head of High Country Campus. If you haven’t already visited his Note Day addition, I encourage you to take a read and share in the joy and adventures of our first Year 9 Moonbah cohort. This week, our Dean of Studies, Ms Allisa Wunder has been visiting the Campus and spending time with students and staff.
Valentine’s Day with a Heart!
Last Friday our beautiful Service Captains raised about $1,000 for HeartKids Limited, helping babies with childhood-onset heart disease. It was wonderful to see the Secondary School spreading the love!
Through this initiative, our Secondary School student leaders are bringing their 2025 motto With Heart to life – literally!
Did you know that 8 babies are born every day in Australia with a heart condition, that’s 1 in 100 babies
It’s a lifelong disease with no known cure,
You can be a sweetheart for a Heart Kid this February and help our students support this incredible cause via your donation here.
Feedback and Assessment Tool
We are pleased to announce that our new Feedback and Assessment Tool in Pulse is now live and replaces iLearn for parents in our Secondary School. The development of this tool is part of our Dynamic Feedback and Reporting Project and is in direct response to feedback from parent focus groups requesting a single platform for viewing all feedback and assessment information.
This short video outlines how it works. You can access the tool via Pulse and your Redlands App (under the ‘More’ section). It’s clear our community values personal, actionable, timely and transferable feedback, and we hope this brings us one step closer.
If you have any feedback or suggestions for additional functionality, please let us know here as we continue development with view to providing our Junior School parents with something similar over the next 12 months.
Facilities Update
Our new toilets on Level 2 are now open and accessible, providing students and staff with closer access to bathroom facilities. New Year 12 lockers have been installed on Level 3 and 4 of the Redlands Learning Hub and further lockers, including large Sports lockers, are arriving in the coming weeks. Although it is cooler today, with the warmer weather we are aware of the need for good air conditioning in our classrooms. Currently in our new W block there are two classrooms – W3 and W6 with no working air conditioning. Please rest assured that our Property Services team are looking to rectify this as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have placed portable air conditioning units in these classrooms.
Kids Giving Back – Harriet Bowyer Yr 9, Isla Anderson Yr 10, Nell Bowyer Yr 10
During the Term 4 of 2024, and the recent school holidays, these students were among 1170 young changemakers who contributed to making over 6,500 meals, breakfast boxes, snack packs and care packs for vulnerable communities across Sydney. They also wrote thoughtful, encouraging messages to be shared with those in need. Their kindness, leadership, and willingness to serve truly embody the values of generosity and community spirit. Their efforts have made a real difference, and we are incredibly proud of them!
Year 7 Adventures and Events
Year 7 Camp takes place next week. The students head to Biloela in the Southern Highlands for 5 days of adventure. This is a wonderful opportunity for Year 7 students to build on their successes so far, embedding friendships and making new ones while stretching their comfort zones. It’s a bright and early start for them on Monday as they meet at school at 6.30am for departure.
After Camp, on the following Tuesday afternoon from 5.00pm Year 7 parents and carers are invited to the Year 7 Meet and Greet on the Fahl Garden. This is an event for the adults – parents and Redlands staff alike – to gather, converse and celebrate the transition of Year 7 so far. Year 7 parents, if your Year 7 child remains at School, then they will need to access the Roseby Library Study Centre, and complete home learning and revision while they wait for you. We look forward to getting to know our Year 7 parents and carers at this annual event.
