Swimming Carnival – Swimming, Cheering and Connecting

This week saw our students embrace the year with wonderful House spirit and camaraderie at our annual Secondary School Swimming Carnival. There was a lot of colour, loud cheers and speedy swimmers across the day.

Well done to all those students who jumped in the pool to race, particularly those who were able to place in their respective events. Congratulations also to all those who cheered on their friends and got behind their House Captains to support their House and motivate their peers in the pool. And, drum roll please… well done to our Swimming Carnival Champion House, Dumolo!

From me, a personal shout out to all the teachers who were brave enough to jump into the pool in the final staff versus student relay race, with the teachers clinching the race by the barest of margins!

Activities Fair

The annual Redlands Activities Fair was held at lunch today in preparation for the School’s Cocurricular Clubs program starting next week. Students were able to move between stalls to explore the vast array of clubs available to them in the Secondary School. Whether it be tending to the bees and harvesting honey on the Learning Hub rooftop in the Bee-Keeping Club; composing sonnets, cinquains and haikus in the Poetry Club; chasing down the truth and getting it to print in The Irregular Newspaper Club; or supporting our local community through the Bougainvillea Service Club; there is a club for every penchant and passion. Clubs are also a great way to challenge yourself to learn new skills and make new friends across different Year Groups, so we encourage students to sign up to something new this term.

For more information on all the clubs and their schedules, be sure to visit the Co-Curricular page on Pulse

Debating

Redlands has an excellent Debating program, which challenges students to develop their verbal prowess, enhancing their capacity to construct persuasive arguments, whilst also improving their ability to refute opposition points.

If you wish to participate in Debating, but not compete, you may sign up for the activity at any time. However, there is one final opportunity to try out for 2025 competitive Debating season. If you are interested, please complete the forms below and come along to the Learning Hub, Level 2 this Friday from 3:30pm-6:30pm.

REGISTRATION – all students need to complete one of these forms:

OTHER COMMITMENTS – all students must complete the form below:

Duke of Edinburgh

The School is excited to offer Year 9 students the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, a fantastic program that encourages personal growth, skill development and outdoor adventure.

Term 1 Year 9 Moonbah Students

For students attending Moonbah this term, Mr Atkins, Head of High Country Campus, will be emailing parents with information and sign-up details for those who are interested. It is essential that sign-ups are completed by Friday night so we can approve student accounts and activities before they depart, as they will have limited access to devices while at Moonbah. Mr Atkins will also run a session with students on-site to guide them through the next steps.

Senior Campus Students

For students remaining on the Senior Campus for Term 1, we will be holding an information session at one of the Year Assemblies in the coming weeks to provide detailed information on the Duke of Edinburgh program and outline the sign-up process. Further details will be shared soon.

The access to opportunities will be the same irrespective of which program the students are in. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Mr Walker.

Moonbah Farewell and Parent Breakfast

This Saturday, our first ever attendees at Moonbah will depart for what is sure to be an amazing term of experiential learning. We look forward to hearing of their wonderful experiences and wish them all the best!

That morning will also be a great opportunity for parents and carers to gather to connect, to celebrate this milestone moment, with breakfast on the Fahl Garden. See the graphic tile below for full details.
