Redlands Oval
Excitement has been building for weeks with our oval getting greener and greener and last Saturday our girls Football program were our first Saturday users, playing intra-squad matches and running clinics and training. Despite heavy overnight rain, our girls were able to go ahead and trained and played with dry feet in a great session, which I’m sure most will agree was a picture perfect opening for the new playing surface.
The Oval is sure to be a busy space on Saturdays as it will play host to almost all of our home fixtures for our Football teams. Matches for Football, Rugby, AFL and Hockey begin in Term 2. The draw is being finalised and will be available soon.
The oval was well utilised despite last week’s rain. AFLNSW ran Auskick clinics for the Preschool students and Sydney Swans development officers had Yr 3 running through their paces in hour long SwansFit sessions.
Before school training sessions for Rugby and AFL have not yet been finalised, but will be held on Redlands Oval, beginning in Term 2. Days will be finalised before the end of term.
Our Girls Football teams play their last matches in their IPSHA season this Saturday. All our other Term 1 IPSHA teams have finished for the term.
Sydney Grammar Preseason Cup
Our first hitout for mixed Football teams took place last weekend in an invitational tournament held by Sydney Grammar School, with teams entered into each division. Redlands teams had a great hitout to start the season. Our Junior Division 2 team were crowned champions and brought home a replica World Cup trophy for their efforts. Our Senior Division 1 team heartbreakingly lost their Semi Final in penalties after showing tremendous courage coming back from a two goal deficit to force the draw and take it to penalties. It was great to be involved in the first ever SGS tournament and our teams played with such endeavour and sportsmanship that I’m certain we’ll be invited to return for more fun in 2020.
Redlands Inaugural Sports Luncheon

The Luncheon will provide a great opportunity to celebrate the integral value of sport to the Redlands community and its students of the past, present and future. Sports education enables students to develop skills and behaviours that are essential for their future journey. The list of guests features a range of Redlands greatest athletes including Karyn Gojnich (Davis), Class of 1978 (Olympic Sailor, Redlander and Redlands mother), Janusz Hooker, Class of 1987 (Olympic Rower), Lachlan Mackay, Class of 2000 (Rugby Wallaby and Brumby) and Holly Crawford, Class of 2001 (Olympic Snowboarder).
