Year 9

Chick N Chill Lunch

Year 9 have done an excellent job this year, most recently in an academic sense with their efforts in Study Centre and Illuminate in the lead up to their examination block and in the work put in during to complete each task.

In recognition of their efforts, Mrs Anna Marie Rolon and Ms Sarah Matthews organised a special lunch for the Year 9 cohort on Tuesday.

Thank you also to the administrative staff in the Student Services Centre for arranging the catering.

Model UN Youth Voice Competition

On Tuesday 29 October, five Year 9 and 10 students from Redlands took the stage at the United Nations Youth Voice Competition, held at Hornsby Girls High School. This prestigious event challenged students to tackle some of today’s most pressing global issues, with this year’s topics ranging from preserving endangered languages to reducing the negative impacts of tourism.

Year 9 was represented by Andy Guan and Thomas Beatty.

Each student demonstrated excellent speaking skills and presented their own unique and thoughtful solutions to the issues presented.

Winter School

As communicated in Note Day last week, Mr Eddy Atkins spoke to the Year 9 cohort today about Winter School in 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity for students to experience a residential program and develop independence while also learning new skills.

An expression of interest to begin the application process will be sent to students after camp.

The Great Book Swap

Tomorrow lunch time, Redlands will be hosting The Great Book Swap for Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This week, students have been asked to bring in a book and gold coin donation to participate in the swap. If they have not done so already, please encourage your child to bring in a book they would like to swap along with a donation! It’s a wonderful chance to support a meaningful cause while discovering a great new read for the summer holidays.

Schools for Impact

This week, Year 9 have begun to generate ideas to fundraise for the Schools for Impact program. We have tasked them with finding a job to complete in exchange for donations and it is great to see some unique ideas coming through, such as piano tutoring for younger siblings, gardening services and organising a mini triathlon! With this in mind, please note that your child may be coming to you over the weekend to offer their services and have been equipped with a suggested script to negotiate a fair price. Feel free to suggest a job you (or a neighbour) may need done!
