Year 8

School Musical – Strictly Ballroom

Thursday 28 – Saturday 30 March

Closing night is SOLD OUT! Some tickets are available on Thursday and Friday and can be purchased here. Come along and support the 20+ Yr 8 students involved on stage, in the pit, backstage or in the hair and makeup crew. Adapted from Baz Luhrmann’s beloved and award-winning film, Strictly Ballroom has been transformed into a dazzling stage musical. The show features songs from the hit 1992 film including “Love is in the Air“, “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” and “Time After Time“, as well as new songs from acclaimed artists and composers such as Sia and Eddie Perfect. With show stopping costumes, sizzling dance and classic hits, Strictly Ballroom will warm your heart and have you dancing in your seats!

International Day

International Day will be held on Tuesday 2 April. The day is when we celebrate Redlands diverse international community and highlight the cultures of the languages that we teach. Tuesday will be a mufti day and students are encouraged to wear country–themed national dress with House points being awarded for the best traditional outfits. If students don’t wish to wear national dress, they are to wear the colours of their assigned country (see below). They should refer to their Student Planner for guidelines on appropriate mufti day attire. It is an expected that students will make a gold coin donation towards UNICEF Change for Good on the day. Assigned countries:

  • McDouall: Japan
  • Roseby: Spain and Ancient Rome
  • Cowper: China
  • Dumolo: France
Cross Country Carnival

The event will be held on Thursday 4 April at the Macquarie University Sporting Fields. This is an outdoor event. The Cross Country Carnival is a compulsory school event. The Carnival is a significant school event that contributes to House and School spirit. All students are expected to participate by either competing or supporting their peers. As this event is held off-site, it is a requirement that all parents and/or carers login to Redlands Pulse and complete the online permission for their child. Each student requires permission from a parent. All students will be transported from School at 11.20am and return by approximately 3.20pm – except for students involved in Rugby and Football who will have training that afternoon at Macquarie Fields. Hockey will also have training at Ryde for which they travel to directly from Macquarie Fields. Students are to arrive at school at the regular time.
