Winter Sport Wrap Up – Rugby and Football

Congratulations to Football and Rugby on their season that wrapped up on the weekend. While there are no finals or league tables in our IPSHA association, we want to acknowledge those teams and coaches who went through their season undefeated.

Athletics Carnival

Well done to all students who participated in our carnival this week, having returned to our normal date in Term 3. Credit to all students for their enthusiasm and participation both in the stands with war cries and cheering and on the track. The wet conditions did not prevent the enthusiasm and participation and the number of students who ran in the 1500m, 800m and 400m was beyond expectation.

There was some great House Spirit being demonstrated throughout the day. The House that stood out in this area was Cowper House led by Camille and Brendan, who sung and cheered their way to some points towards the House Spirit cup. McDouall also contested the House Spirit trophy in the posters, costumes and overall spirit.

With the entrant number system student used in conjunction with the timing gates, students were able to see their times and overall rankings on the digital score board after they finished their race, providing excellent feedback for our Junior Athletes.

A big thank you the way all students looked on the day. Everyone got to wear the House race bibs this year when participating in track events. The ability to identify their peers representing their house from the grandstand really added to the carnival atmosphere.

At our Junior School assembly next Tuesday we will announce the winning House and present the shield, as well as the trophy for the House Spirit Cup. The age champions and runner up for all age groups will also be announced.

Mr Sharma will be in touch with those students who have qualified for the Redlands Athletics team who will compete at HCIES next week and we wish that team the best of luck at this selection carnival.

The program for the Athletics carnival should you wish to attend to view parts of the day can also be found here as well the parent information package on the day.

A training program has also been uploaded to the Athletics page as a resource for any family who would like to do some preparation with their child for the upcoming Athletics Carnival. This can be downloaded from the FILES section on the Athletics page.
