Winter Sport- Rugby and Football

This week sees the final match for our Junior School Football and Rugby teams as they wrap up their Term 2 and 3 season. Friday evening Football training continues for those students who registered with Norths 3 weeks ago. Thank you to those students who played in these sports for this season. Meanwhile our girls AFL and Touch Football has just commenced and will continue all term.

If your child was a goalkeeper and has one of our Redlands goalkeeper jerseys at home can you please return it to the sport office so a replacement fee on your school can be avoided. If you have any Rugby or Football boots that are too small or are not needed next season please feel free to send them in to the sport office as Redlands has several organisations that we distribute these too.

Athletics Carnival Entrant Numbers

As we prepare for the upcoming Athletics Carnival, please remind your child to start memorising their entrant numbers. Each student will need to have their unique entrant number written clearly on their forearm on the day of the event The entrant number is crucial for our carnival programme, as it includes details like the student’s full name, date of birth, age group, and house colour. It also helps us allocate house points and track participation.

Term 3 Redlands Mini-Olympics

When our Rep Rugby and Football season finishes their season on Saturday 10th August all students from these teams will be automatically rolled over and enrolled to compete in Redlands Mini Olympics for the remainder of the term. Students from both codes have been divided into 8 countries and will play each other each Wednesday in a variety of Athletic events. Teams are mixed grades and each team has been allocated a country that they are representing. Teams were displayed at school and the students are very excited about the event. For your reference these can be viewed here: 2024 Redlands Olympics
Athletics training program ‘student take home pack’
I have put together a training plan aimed at those students who would not normally train leading up to our school carnival which is scheduled for Wednesday 14 August. As you know any training for Athletics and Cross Country takes place well in advance of the carnival itself.

You are under no obligation to use this training plan, it is a suggested resource we have put together for those families who want to work on carnival preparation for the weeks leading up to our school carnival.

To download and or view this training it can be found under ‘Files’ on Pulse on the Athletics Page

Concussion Protocols

Concussion is suspected after a head injury involving a force to the head or brain where the child seems different than usual and is displaying specific signs and symptoms. In most cases concussion symptoms resolve over time, but careful management is required to assist this process, including:
• Total rest at home for 24-48 hours until symptom-free
• Monitoring severity of symptoms when active
• Graduated Return to Sport Framework
For all other information please refer to our Junior School Sport Concussion page which can be found here.

Please don’t hesitate to view our Sport Information page on Redlands Pulse if you have any questions pertaining to Sport.
