Head of Secondary School
Welcome Back to Term 3
Welcome back to all our parents and carers as we embark on an exciting journey into Term 3 at Redlands. As we reflect on the achievements and growth of our students thus far, we are eager to share the enriching learning activities planned for this term. From engaging projects that foster critical thinking to collaborative endeavours that cultivate creativity, our aim is to inspire and empower every student, via support and challenge.
Students are selecting subjects for study in 2025, preparing to attend Winter School, and Year 12 are finessing their understanding and distilling their knowledge for their final secondary school examinations. Tomorrow, we gather as a whole secondary school community in Dunnet Hall for a Term 3 Student-Led Assembly. We look forward to sharing in the start of a busy academic term, led by our soon to graduate Year 12 leadership team.
In partnership with you, we continue to build a supportive community where each child thrives personally, academically and socially. Your involvement and collaboration are invaluable as we work towards a successful and fulfilling term ahead. Here’s to a wonderful Term 3 filled with learning, growth, and a strong sense of connection.
Independent Learning and Self-Management
Our students are impressing us with their enhanced capacity to engage independently and self manage in 2024. We’ve seen a real uptick in Study Centre attendance across all year levels and recorded the best ever holiday workshop attendance for Year 12 in our recent 3-week break, where senior students were offered a range of HSC and IB revision sessions.
Are you keen for your child to sustain this tremendous focus or begin this term with an enhanced commitment to personal learning and responsibility?
Additional guidance, encouragement and subject specific tutoring is available via our Illuminate Scholars Program, which has already begun again this term. To register your child, please head to the Illuminate page on pulse.
Redlands Secondary School Athletics Carnival 2024 Results
A really fun day at the end of last term saw our yearly Athletics Carnival, attended by students in Year 7 to 12. It was a beautiful sunny day which saw students across the school ‘have a go’ and for many, personal bests were achieved. We will be celebrating these students at our first Term 3 Assembly tomorrow.

Secondary School Leadership Team
If you have any specific questions or needs this term, please do reach out to the relevant member of the Secondary School Leadership Team. We are more than happy to chat over the phone, correspond via email or hold a meeting with you, underscoring our partnership approach. We sincerely appreciate parents/carers who make contact to discuss the needs of their children, provide contextual updates and reach out for additional support and recommendations regarding learning, emotional and social needs.
All school terms are ‘busy’, and Term 3 is a significant term in that much of the preparation for the following academic year, takes place. I thought you might like to understand the Secondary School Leadership Team’s priorities this term – they are outlined below:
- Year 10 experiences and opportunities, including Winter School
- Year 11 into Year 12 leadership process
- Subject selection for 2025 (Year 7, 8 & 9)
- Timetable building for 2025
- Recruitment for 2025 (Cremorne and High Country Campus)
- Year 12 Showcases, Trial Examinations and graduation events
The Secondary School Leadership Team supports a large team of Middle Leaders, across Academics, Pastoral, Sport and Cocurricular. Each of these teams have their own priorities for the term too, and we look forward to a rich and diverse set of experiences for students and community members.
Please do make contact with us if you have any questions or wish to offer any feedback.
