Secondary Sport
Welcome back to what is going to be a jam packed Term 3! We are entering the last 3 rounds of the Winter Seasons before Finals begin, please be sure to check out your respective team positions as we lead into the finals.
There were a number of activities over the holidays, with the SnowSports taking place over a 2 weeks period which included the Development Camp, Racers Camp, Redlands Cup and InterSchools all taking place, we also had holiday winter sessions, as well as some friendly Football, Hockey and Netball fixtures against Abbostleigh. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers and participants in all activities.

Athletics
At the end of last year we hosted the Redlands Secondary School Athletics Carnival which was a fantastic day for all those participants.
On the day there were 2 records broken:
- Isaac Brooks (Yr 12) broke the Senior Boys 1500m record which has stood since 1991 (old time of 4:08.06), Isaacs’ new time of 4:02.57, which is a cracking time!
- Immi Howard (Yr 10) & Amber Kusano (Yr 10) ran a dead heat time of 2:27.03 in the Inter Girls 800m, breaking the record set in 2018 (old time of 2:27.82), congratulations Immi & Amber!
Congratulations also to Chloe Scamps (Yr 11) and Jaiden Murphy (Yr 11) who took out the respective Champion of Champions Female & Male 100m sprint!

Cross Country
A huge congratulations to Isaac Brooks (Yr 12) & Immi Howard (Yr 10) who both represented Redlands, the ISA and CIS at the NSW All School Cross Country Championships held on Wednesday.
Isaac ran a blistering 8km 18s Boys event finishing in 7th Place! qualifying him for the Australian Cross Country Championships in Perth at the end of August.
Immi also competed strongly in the 6km 16s Girls event finishing in 11th Place which was an excellent performance also!
Fitness Centre
Welcome back to the fitness centre for Term 3!
Our Winter Sport programs continue this week across Open Gym and our Rep Sport and Non-Rep S&C.

A reminder for session times, Students who are registered to attend Open Gym sessions are expected to arrive just prior to their session start time:
- Year 11/12 Start 6:30am
- Year 9/10 Start 6:45am
- Year 7/8 Start 7:00am
Signs ups for Open Gym for the Summer season will commence alongside Summer Sport sign ups in weeks to come.
Football
Welcome back everyone!
I hope you all had a great holiday and are looking forward to restarting the Football Season. This weekend Round 8 of the ISA competition.
The Female program will be playing at Macquarie University Fields vs Barker and Central Coast Grammar.
The Boys will be playing away against St Pius X College this weekend. Please come and support us on a very tough round for our kids.

Both programs are chasing spots to qualify for the Finals.
School Holidays Sessions:
During the break during the July School Holidays, we invited all the players in the football program to the School Holidays Skills Program, led by our very experienced coach from the Australian Institute of Sport Steve O’Connor. Our session objective was to focus on improving the basic skills of the player in doing so we can improve as a Team.
We also ran a Goalkeeper Session with our very experienced French GK coach Dominique Garnier.
Congratulations to all players who attended the sessions.

Tickets on sale now for the Redlands Football 2024 End of Season Celebration. The evening includes team and individual player awards, trivia, raffles, and prizes. The event is for 2024 footballers and their parents. Tickets include a two-course dinner, with drinks available for purchase at the bar. Seats are limited so get in quick!

Hockey
Round 8 of the ISA Season will recommence this Saturday 27 July. A reminder to check the details on Redlands Pulse or on your individual student calendar. Our Senior 1sts will be taking on Chevalier away, 2nds against Barker at home and 3rds will have a bye.
It was fantastic to see the attendance numbers at the holiday sessions. On Monday, our 1sts had a hotly contested friendly match against Abbotsleigh School ending in a 2-2 draw.
A huge congratulations to Jessica van Extel who competed for the NSWCIS team earlier this week at the NSWCIS All Schools Tri-Series Tournament.

Rugby
Training and games have resumed this week, a reminder draft fixtures are loaded on the Rugby Pulse page for the remainder of the season to help students and families plan ahead, simple scroll down to the Live draw.
All students are encouraged to attend the fitness center to complement their development within Rugby. Please read the Fitness Center pulse page: (https://pulse.redlands.nsw.edu.au/homepage/377) for information on how to register your attendance for optional sessions.

Snowsports
Over the Term 2 School Holidays the Snowsports program kicked off, we had the 27th Redlands cup on Sunday 14 July followed closely by the Regional Interschools. We had many great results over the week with some highlights below:

Tennis
We hope you all enjoyed the holiday break – there was so much sport to watch and enjoy including Wimbledon.
We had a good number of students attend the Holiday Camps – it was fantastic to see so many students eager to get back in to the training and prepare for the term ahead.
We have had a great week of training this week and would like to see the students continue the positive attitudes and form displayed this week and at the holiday camps.
We are looking forward to an exciting day of competition this Saturday against St Pius College – the weather is looking good and it should be a great day.
Let’s make sure we are prepared and ready to go this Saturday and start off the term well in the lead up to the Finals in 5 weeks!

Water Polo
Please note our Inters teams continue their training and games this Term. Games begin back Monday Week 2, 29 July.

For Inters to attend the Fitness session, please read the Fitness Center pulse page. Inter team students can select the morning they wish to attend but will need to register their attendance.
General Sport Information
Fixtures
- All student training and fixture details will be available to families under My Schedule on Redlands Pulse. Additionally, the weekly Fixtures (The Redlands Rhino) can be found on the Secondary School Sport page on Redlands Pulse from Wednesday each week. Please ensure you check Redlands Pulse Friday afternoon to ensure you have the latest fixture information.
Uniform
- The Redlands sports uniform should be worn to all trainings and matches (students are not permitted to wear any non-Redlands branded clothing). In the event of inclement weather students should wear their Redlands fleece or sports tracksuit.
- Students must wear trainer style sneakers that are preferably white with non-marking soles. It is part of our shared responsibility to ensure that students wear footwear that aligns with the activity to be undertaken. High top sneakers, Vans, Converse etc. are not appropriate for School Sport.
Saturday Sport Absences
- Parents are required to log an absence via the Sports Absence Form available on Redlands Pulse – Secondary School Sport (under ‘Quick Links’ prior to missing any training session or weekly fixture.
- Any student unable to attend a Saturday fixture due to illness, is required to submit a Medical Certificate to their Sports administrator by the Monday morning following the missed fixture.
- Injured students are required to attend all training sessions and Saturday fixtures.
- Failure to do any of the above will jeopardise a student’s eligibility for Colours, Pockets, and Awards and result in school disciplinary action.
- Please refer to the Student Planner 2024 for full details on requirements for participating in a Representative Sport.
- Bus Transport
- When travelling on Redlands transport the Redlands school rules are in place and students should be always upholding the values of the school:
- Have good behaviour, safe behaviour and appropriate language at all times.
- Follow the driver (and supervising staff) instructions at all times.
- Obey the transport rules and regulations at all times (seat belts must be worn at all times).
- Leave the bus how they found it (no rubbish, no mess).
- When travelling on Redlands transport the Redlands school rules are in place and students should be always upholding the values of the school:
Students who fail to meet the standards of the above will face school disciplinary action.
Wet Weather
- Unless communicated differently or in the morning of the session (via Redlands Pulse & Clipboard), all training sessions are to be deemed ‘on’.
- Students should bring with them a change of Redlands Sport Uniform (Thursdays only) or their school uniform (Tuesday) if there are light showers during training.
