Head of Junior School
As we conclude our busy first semester, my thanks to our students for their hard work and contribution to all areas of school life, to the staff team for their excellent efforts and to parents and carers for your ongoing support. A reminder that students return to school for Term 3 on Tuesday 23 July. In the meantime, my best wishes for the upcoming Winter break.
Semester One Reports
Junior School student reports will be available to parents via the online parent portal tomorrow. A notification will be sent to you when they have been uploaded for you to access. Back copies of your child’s reports are also available via Redlands Pulse. To access the reports, parents will need their Redlands Pulse username and password. Parents requiring assistance should email pulse@redlands.nsw.edu.au as soon as possible.
Semester 2 Clubs
Please note that due to parent teacher meetings in Week 2, Junior School-based clubs (Tuesday) will start in Week 3 of Term 3. The only exception to this is Representative Debating which begins in Week 1. There are still some spots available for Semester 2 clubs. Please use the link below if you wish to sign up your child to one of these activities. Please note that if you signed up for a Semester Two club in Term One, your place is confirmed and there is no need to re-enrol.
Results of Year 5 and 6 Computational and Algorithmic Thinking Competition
A group of 26 students in Years 5 and 6 recently participated in the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking Competition (CAT). We are thrilled to announce that five of our Redlands’ students achieved outstanding results. Millie Wu received the highest possible award placing in the top 2% of students in Australia in her year group, attaining 100% and a High Distinction. Sasha Grant, Nicholas Thassim, Evan Zeller and Daniel Lee placed in the top 15% of students in Australia in their year group, attaining Distinctions. An additional 10 students received Credit awards for placing in the top 50% in Australia in their year group. The CAT is a national competition run by the Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT) to promote and develop students problem-solving skills through algorithmic thinking. Congratulations to all students who took part in this competition on their outstanding efforts and achievements. All students who participated will receive their award certificates in our first assembly in Term 3.

Wayside Collection: – A Message from the Junior School Captains
Amelie and Pax
This year as School Captains and a Year 6 cohort, we want to help Wayside Chapel. Wayside needs donations of money and goods. As well as money, Wayside needs donations of single use toiletries which are provided for people who come in to have showers, brush their teeth and get changed into some clean clothes. As we did at the start of this term, we would like to gather single-use toiletries for Wayside Chapel. Given the school holidays are approaching, we thought this would be a perfect time to ask students and their families to collect these items from hotels and aeroplanes, if they are going away during the school holidays; please keep an eye out for these items on the list on the below flyer. When you come back to school, there will be a large bucket that you can place the toiletries in so that we can pass this on to Wayside Chapel.
ySafe Parent and Student Cyber Safety Sessions
On Tuesday 23 July, students from Year 1 to Year 6 will participate in Cyber Safety workshops run by ySafe. ySafe are a team of award winning, cyber safety experts who work with students from K-12 across Australia.
Student sessions will take place in Dunnet Hall and will be run by coordinators from ySafe. The sessions will cover a range of topics related to online and digital behaviours and safety, with an outline of the program being found here.
A session for parents has also been organised and will take place in the Arnold Library from 8:30-9:30am. If you would like to attend the parent session, please complete this online form and we will communicate more details closer to the event.
