Senior Music Festival

We’re just over one week out, and tickets for the Senior Music Festival are selling fast! The stalls are completely sold out, but don’t worry – there are still great seats left in the Dress Circle. We encourage our community to jump on the website to book tickets sooner than later to avoid disappointment.

  • Adult | $50.00

  • Child/Concession/Student | $35.00

  • Family (2 adults & 2 children) | $150.00

A prize for the highest ticket sales is on offer again to a student in our Cocurricular Music program, so if you have a particular musician you would like to win, ask them their STUDENT NUMBER and add this 6-digit code under ‘Questionnaires’ when you purchase tickets.

SMF Whole Cast Rehearsal – This Sunday!

As advised via the SMF Letter, all members of the Senior Cocurricular Music program are rehearsing this Sunday between 9.45am – 2.45pm at Redlands. Students are reminded to wear their Festival t-shirts and blacks, and to bring their instrument, scores, a packed lunch and snacks.

As with the long days at The Concourse, we also recommend students bring a book or some quiet activities should they find themselves with downtime in between their calls.

Everyone will be dismissed for collection at the Gerard St gate at 2.45pm, with the exception of the Yr 12 featured students, who will rehearse till 4pm. Let’s make some music!

Save the Date: Yr 12 IB Contemporary Music Maker

Our Year 12 Higher Level IB students have been working incredibly hard to design, coordinate and bring to life incredible collaborative projects, in a task known as the Contemporary Music Maker (CMM). These students, over the course of 90 hours across their two year IB Program, have devised incredible displays for you to see, ranging from mini-musicals, art collaborations and more.

If you want to see the best of our academic music program here at Redlands, and the opportunities the IB Diploma Programme offers for musicians to learn industry skills, come along!

Date: 5:30pm Monday 24 June 2024, Edwards Auditorium

Year 8 and 9 Excursion to The Music of John Williams

All students in Year 8 and 9 Elective Music classes visited the Sydney Opera House today for a performance by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, performing The Music of John Williams. Year 9 have been studying orchestral film music this term, and have been excited to hear their favourite movies come to life!

New Composition Tutor

We are delighted to have Mr Luke Byrne join the Music department as a composition tutor. Mr Byrne will be working with our elective Music classes from Year 8-12. This week he has been taking workshops with Year 10 and IB Music students.

Mr Byrne is a highly experienced composer and teacher of composition. He has recently returned from London after teaching at Guildhall and is looking forward to working closely with our talented Redlands students.

Mr Byrne also has limited availability as an extra-curricular composition tutor, not limited to students in elective Music. If you are interested in signing up to lessons, this can be done through Pulse.

Choral Celebration

We are thrilled to share the excitement of our today’s Choral Celebration, which showcased the incredible singing talents of over 400 students from Prep through to Year 8. It’s heart warming to see students from both campuses come together, sharing their passion for music in such a communal and uplifting way.

A special thanks goes to Mrs Roberts, our dedicated Head of Choral and Head of Junior Performance, for her outstanding leadership in bringing this event to life. We also extend our gratitude to all the staff who supported and assisted in making this performance opportunity possible.

We’ll have the professional photos for next week’s Note Day, but for now, please see a sneak peak below.

Here’s to many more collaborative, cross-campus music-making events in the future!
