Year 12

Hump Week

The next few weeks are the busiest period of this term for many students, working hard for multiple assessments and deadlines. Some students are beginning to show some signs of both physical and emotional fatigue. Students have been assured that while it is common for this time of year, they should look for warning signs of exhaustion. These signs may appear as low tolerance to stress or stressful situations, inattentiveness, insensitivity, lack of motivation and also physical fatigue. Students have been encouraged to keep an eye on each other, openly share how they are feeling, and seek help though the Pastoral Care team if needed.

HSC Student Meeting

Earlier this week, all the HSC students attended a meeting with Mr Randall (Dean of HSC) about the essential information with regards to their course studies, including familiarisation with the rules and procedures advertised by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). It is extremely important for students to accurately update their personal details on the website Students Online, so that they can view personalised information, such as their individual exam timetable, study details and HSC results when they become available. IB ToK Enrichment Excursion

On Friday 1 March, Yr 12 IB Theory of Knowledge (ToK) students will be attending a workshop on Critical Thinking for the IB, offering excellent preparation for their upcoming assessment, the Essay, worth 67% of their ToK grade. The excursion will take place at the School of Philosophical and Historical Inquiry at the University of Sydney, Darlington. Buses will depart from 2 Allister St (Junior Campus) at 8.30am and they will return to school by 3.30pm. I hope all the students will make the most of this great opportunity, inspired by the presenter’s guidance and wisdom.

Student Leadership

With the Secondary Swimming Carnival, Junior Swimming Carnival and Prefect-led Assembly every fortnight, Yr 12 students have really pulled together to raise a tight-knit community spirit. There has been much positive feedback regarding the way of Yr 12 students modelled good leadership, sportsmanship and a sense of fun. Well done to all students involved.
