Music

As we start to ramp up towards our biggest cocurricular music events of year, the Senior Music Festival and Junior Music Festival, it’s important that our students are demonstrating preparation, commitment and attendance at every rehearsal.

We are asking our community to help to prioritise these rehearsals, as when every person is there in our ensembles, there is significant learning and growth. Conversely, when multiple students are away each week, the whole ensemble suffers and progress is hindered. Whilst we know some appointments are unavoidable, we ask that wherever possible external commitments are not scheduled during ensemble time.

Making time in regular practice routines for our cocurricular ensembles is an expectation we have of our students, and we appreciate your support in helping our students practice for their weekly ensemble rehearsals. Students also should ensure they bring a pencil to every single rehearsal, along with all other equipment.

Thank you to the students, parents and carers in our community that already do make this a priority, and for your support in making sure our students are getting the full benefit and value of being in a cocurricular ensemble.

Senior Music Festival 2024 – Kaleidoscope

Save the date! The Senior Music Festival, involving our entire cocurricular line-up of over 200 students on the Senior Campus, is coming up! Tickets will be on sale later this term.

Vocal Competition – Guest Adjudicator Brad Cooper

We are incredibly grateful to have the wonderful Brad Cooper, a Tenor with Opera Australia, adjudicating our upcoming Vocal Competition.

Brad Cooper is a versatile artist who excels in opera, operetta, lieder, and kabarett. In 2021, he returned to the stage with a notable performance at the Sydney Opera House and planned performances in Handel’s “Messiah” and Beethoven’s “Fidelio.” Brad has successfully launched a new Weimar Republic Kabarett show, “BERLIN ELECTRIC,” which is set to debut in Europe. His past roles include significant performances in Wagner’s operas and various leading roles across major global opera houses. Additionally, Brad has a robust concert portfolio, including performances with high-profile artists and at prestigious events. He is deeply committed to music education, running workshops and projects aimed at engaging diverse audiences. Brad’s education was supported by several trusts and scholarships, underpinning his successful international career.

We look forward to the wonderful advice and adjudication that he will provide for our successful Vocal Comp auditionees.
