We’re back! It’s been fantastic to hear the halls buzzing with musical rehearsals, performances from day one even some important musical contributions over the holidays! 

Updates from the Holidays

ANZAC Day Dawn Service

On April 25, we were honoured to support our local community at the Anzac Day Dawn Service with our Combined Concert Bands, as well as Yr 12 Leaders Hallie Hunt, Sholto Mirrlees-Black leading the congregation in hymns and Will Howard performing the Last Post and Reveille. A big thank you to Mr Jason Xu for leading the Concert Bands, Ms Hales’ administration, and our tutor support in this space. 

ANZAC Day School Services

We also had three Anzac Day services that had wonderful music contributions at the start of the term. On our Senior Service, our Intermediate Concert Band and our choirs provided musical accompaniment. We also had the Last Post and Reveille performed by Hugo Baird, as well as congregational singing led by Tali Feldman, Oliver Cooke and Megan Kirkpatrick. 

Excitingly, our Prep and Junior students also experienced the first performance of our Brass Chamber Ensemble, as well as the Junior Choir, led by Mrs Roberts, singing a beautifully reflective piece for our Junior and Prep services. Thank you to all students and staff for your contributions to helping us reflect on the ANZAC Spirit.

Junior & Senior Piano Competition

The Junior and Piano Competition auditions are coming up! Held in Week 4 of Term 2, the Piano Competition is a wonderful chance for both our Junior and Senior students to show off their incredible talents and skills.

Senior School – Semester 2 Extension Ensemble Auditions 

By Friday Week 5 at 5:00pm, the following auditions for Semester 2 will be due: 

ADVANCED CONCERT BAND – SEMESTER 2, 2024

ADVANCED STRINGS – SEMESTER 2 2024

SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA – SEMESTER 2, 2024

SENIOR CHAMBER ENSEMBLE – SEMESTER 2, 2024

ADVANCED GUITAR ENSEMBLE – SEMESTER 2, 2024

ADVANCED STAGE BAND – SEMESTER 2, 2024

Please note that Year 7s in Intermediate Concert Band and Intermediate Strings will need to wait until the next round of auditions to apply, but are welcome to apply for extension ensembles outside of their core ensemble.

Audition information is now available and forms can be found on the Gala Arts Audition iLearn Page.
