On Monday 25 February, we are very pleased to be hosting clinical psychologist and author of The Bonsai Child, Dr Judith Locke. This is part of our ongoing focus on wellbeing, as well as providing another of the many parent education and engagement opportunities here at Redlands. The event is being held in Redlands Hall and begins at 6.00pm.
In an ever-changing world, parents are constantly wondering how they can best support their child. As part of our on-going efforts to support parents we are excited to announce that Clinical Psychologist and author Dr Judith Locke will be coming to Redlands to present two workshops for parents around how to support their child to become confident and capable. These workshops are designed to provide specific strategies to assist the young people we care for to achieve their personal best, both within the classrooms as well as in other areas of life. Judith will provide advice as to how to support your child in a friendly and relatable way as well as providing specific strategies around how to help your child become independent and make the most of their opportunities whilst at school.

Dr Prue Salter – Study Skills
Last week Dr Prue Salter from Enhanced Learning Educational Services (www.enhanced-learning.net) ran a study skills session with Yr 11 parents and students. The session focused on helping students identify changes and improvements they could make to their approach to their studies in order to maximise their results in their final years of school. The main areas covered with Yr 11 were working effectively in the evenings and dealing with distractions, managing time efficiently, planning for assessments, making brain-friendly study notes on a regular basis and using a wide variety of active study techniques to suit individual learning styles. Parents are encouraged to review the handout from the session with students and discuss the main areas identified where changes need to be made. Parents can also find extra study skills tips on this website. All Secondary students and parents at our School also have access to a great study skills website to help students develop their skills. Go to www.studyskillshandbook.com.au and enter the username: Redlands and the password: 68results. There are lots of useful handouts on the Things to Print page and students can work through the units where they need additional help.
