Community Update

It was lovely to welcome our community onto the campus at our Twilight Welcome last Friday evening. We understand that we are not just a school, we are a community and we recognise the important sense of place that Redlands represents. My thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the event organising committee and our operations team for delivering a such a wonderful event. We look forward to welcoming more of our community onsite as the year unfolds.

It was a pleasure to attend the first meetings of our Prep, Junior and Secondary School Parent Contact Groups (PCG) this year, where I met Class and Year Group Parents and shared the activities and projects currently underway in Community Engagement. Our PCGs continue to explore ways to keep our community connected, included and supported within the many and varied aspects of school life.  If you are looking to connect with our community for support then please reach out to the passionate and diverse experience of our class and year group parents, the RPFA and Friends of Groups that support Redlands families.

We are delighted to invite students, parents, carers and friends to our inaugural Count Her In International Women’s Day Breakfast here at Redlands. Two incredible leaders and changemakers (The Hon. Bronnie Taylor – Deputy Leader of the NSW Nationals, Member of the NSW Legislative Council and Vicki Condon AM – Founder, CEO, Executive Director of Raise Foundation) will discuss their commitment to the creation of opportunities for women to earn, learn and lead. Tickets available here.

Textile Recyclers Australia (TRA) has been selected as our uniform recycling partner following a comprehensive review of available options in 2023. TRA will commence the collection of unwanted  Redlands uniforms in Week 7 of Term 1, with each Year Group having a specific day to bring in their unwanted uniforms. Further details of Uniform Recycling Week, including what can and can’t be recycled through TRA, will be provided in the lead up to Week 7.

A reminder that an exclusive opportunity exists for our parent and alumni community to experience an extraordinary program on country through our Redlands Midawarr Trip in May this year. This is quite literally a once in a lifetime experience to deeply explore miny’tji (art), manikay (song), bunggul (dance) and story-telling at Gulkula, the site of the annual Garma Festival. Places on this exclusive trip can now be reserved by competing a booking form which can be accessed here.

I remain grateful for the continued guidance and support our community provides and, as ever, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly or the wider Community Engagement team should you have any feedback, suggestions or questions.
