Friends of Music Meeting – Tonight!
Our first Friends of Music meeting of the year is tonight! It’s a great opportunity to look at the year ahead. We invite anyone in our community to come join and be part of what we do.
The night will include musical entertainment from some of our staff, light refreshments and, most importantly, the opportunity to hear about how you can make a difference as a Friend of Music.
We look forward to seeing our community at 6pm in Edwards Auditorium tonight!
Do the Little Things Right
This term, we have a Music Department goal to ‘do the little things right’. We know that when we lay the right foundations for our students, and hold them accountable with high expectations and support them to meet them, we can expect significant growth and success.
As we are settling into our routines of ensemble attendance and private tuition practice, we encourage all students to focus on holistically focusing on making sure they’re making a big improvements in the small details.
Some examples of ways you can encourage your child to be doing the little things right:
- Being the first person there to help with set-up of an ensemble, and the last person to leave
- Having music, pencils and any other equipment prepared for every rehearsal
- Getting that routine of daily practice, no matter how small, embedded in what we do
- Leaving rehearsal spaces better than we found them
- Keeping devices away from rehearsal spaces
- Focusing the whole way through rehearsal
As we focus on this at school, we appreciate your support to help your child at home. Open conversations about consistent practice and preparation for both private lessons, ensembles and music classes is essential to helping your child succeed in music.
