Cocurricular Music Ensembles
The Redlands Music Ensembles Program commenced this week with rehearsals underway on both the Junior and Senior Campuses. As part of these introductory sessions, Music Captains demonstrated excellent student leadership as they promoted student connection through self-devised circle time activities. With rehearsals now underway for our Music Festival season, there is still the opportunity for any interested students to join a Music Ensemble in Semester 1. Sign-up closes this Friday 15 February.
Battle of the Bands (Yrs 5-12)
Enrolments are now open for Battle of the Bands auditions which will be held in Week 7 (Monday 11 – Friday 15 March). This event supports our budding young rock and contemporary musicians through a fundraising venture for the Redlands Cambodia Service trip. The competition is open to students in Yrs 5-12. Competition audition forms are now available on Redlands Pulse.
Extra Subjects Music Group Tuition
This program offers lessons in Musicianship, Sound Engineering, Rock Bands and Composition. These various classes meet throughout the week before and after school, providing students with opportunities in building music theory skills, sound production techniques, contemporary performance and song writing. Signing up for classes closes Friday 22 February.
Notification of Enrolment, Transfer or Discontinuation
All enrolments for Extra Subjects Voice, Instrumental or Group Tuition must be submitted by Friday 15 February for lessons to commence in Term 1. Any forms received after this date will commence lessons in Term 2. Parents and guardians are advised that students who are requesting a change to their current Extra Subject Music tuition will need to submit a Notification of Change Form four weeks prior to the end of a term. Please note that once term has commenced, lessons will only be able to be discontinued at the end of the term. The Notification of Change form can be downloaded from Redlands Pulse and will need to be emailed to juniormusic@redlands.nsw.edu.au (Yrs K-6) or seniormusic@redlands.nsw.edu.au (Yrs 7-12)

Junior Campus
Junior Campus Music Ensembles Supervision
It was exciting to see the students excited about their new music journey for the year with the commencement of the Junior Campus Music Ensembles program. For ensembles that rehearse before school, please be reminded that there is no supervision for students prior to 7.10am. Please ensure that students are not left unsupervised by parents outside the Parkes Building before this time. On Monday, supervision for Junior Guitar Ensemble and Junior Voices is provided from 7.25am and on Friday for Preparatory Choir from 7.40am.
Instrument Insurance
School hired instruments must be included on personal home and contents insurance as Redlands cannot be held responsible for instruments which are lost, stolen or damaged. As all instruments are very fragile, we ask for your assistance in ensuring that students do not let other children play with their instrument, instruments are kept in a safe place and out of extreme temperatures (ie. hot car) and are not left out of their case when not in use.
Daily Instrument Storage Arrangements
Monday
On a Monday morning cello (only) students are to bring their instruments for storage in the purpose-built cupboards in the Parkes Building corridor. For the security and safety of all resources, instruments are not to be left at school overnight as they are needed at home for regular practice sessions. Violins and violas are to be stored safely within the child’s classroom.
Thursday
On a Thursday morning, cello, trombone, baritone and violin (only) students are to bring their instruments for storage in the purpose-built cupboards in the Parkes Building corridor.
