NSW Interschool Model UN Conference

Last Saturday, Sophie Yu and Eleanor Blankenstein teamed up with students from 21 schools across the Greater Sydney Area to engage in the Model United Nations Conference at Pymble Ladies College. As representatives of Spain, they passionately debated the issue of global cooperation in safeguarding journalists and NGO workers around the world. Their dedication was rewarded with the Best Delegation award from the SOCHUM (Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Committee). Congratulations to Sophie and Eleanor for their outstanding work!

When Elenor and I first came into the Model UN hall, we were nervous to say the least – the sight of nearly 100 professional-looking delegates with binders full of research notes made us, first time participants, feel incredibly unprepared. Yet, it turned out that we had been nervous about nothing at all. Two SOCHUM (Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Committee) conferences and a General Assembly went by in no time as we debated global issues from the Ethiopian Tigray Crisis to climate refugees in the Pacific islands and got to know some of the most passionate and knowledgeable people I’ve ever met. Not to mention, it was far from the serious affair I’d imagined – the day was filled with humour, a Gossip Box, and some of the most incredible argument comebacks I’ve heard that made the entire Assembly erupt into applause. Everyone was so kind and supportive; we both learnt and improved so much. To our surprise, we even managed to win SOCHUM Best Delegation at the end of the day.

Secondary School Individual Portraits and Secondary School Sibling Photos Catch-up Opportunity

Friday 1 March

A catch-up date for missed Year 7-12 Individual Portrait photos and Secondary School sibling photos will be offered on 1 March at recess (10.10am) in the Redlands Learning Hub Level 2 Atrium.

All students are required to be wearing their full school uniform, including blazers for all and ties for boys. Boys must be clean shaven with hair that has been cut so that it is away from eyes, ears and collar. Boys and girls with a hair length touching the collar is to be styled and tied-up neatly so that it is away from eyes, ears and collar. Hair is to be tied back with navy or hair coloured accessories.  No hair dye, mullet style haircuts, make-up or nail polish is permitted. No jewellery is to be worn other than one pair of plain gold or silver studs in ear lobes.

AIE | Industry Experience Day

11-17 April 

AIE’s Industry Experience Day is a great opportunity for students in Years 10, 11 and 12 to learn about the local and international game development, 3D animation and visual effects industries. Students will get the opportunity to learn about the different pathways to get into the industry, what should be in a portfolio and will be able to get creative in practical workshops using industry-standard 3D animation and game development tools.

The sessions are run by industry professionals who have worked on some blockbuster games and films. Everything is provided for you to participate in the hands-on workshops and you will be using the same software that is used in the industry.
