Secondhand Textbook Sale – for Current Yr 6-11 Students
Don’t miss the Second Hand Textbook Sale on Mon 4 Dec – a great initiative to ease pressure on the wallet and the environment! Book lists have been sent via email and are also available on year group pages as well as the RPFA secondhand book sale page. Please see more information on Pulse. If you do want to purchase some second hand textbooks, we suggest you don’t complete the Box of Books order until you know what books can be fulfilled. Any books you wish to donate from this year to the sale would be greatly appreciated. ???????? Big thanks to the dedicated parent volunteers making this sale come to life: JP Forrest, Kate Kesby and team! All proceeds raised will go to the Dr Sue Morey AM Scholarship Fund.

Walks on Tracks
Weekly guided walks around the northern Sydney area are organised by Ann Marie, a wonderful RPFA volunteer. This is a great way to meet other Redlands parents and get in shape, plus a wonderful way to spend a morning discovering the many paths of the Sydney area.
The invitation for walks is open, so if you have friends or family who you think would like to come along, please feel free to bring them. Dogs are also welcome on most walks.
Our walk next week on Wed 29 Nov Balmoral to Clifton Gardens. Meet outside the Boathouse at Balmoral Beach 8.40am.
Mark your calendars with the last walk for the year:
6 Dec Mosman to the Rocks. Meet at Mosman Bay ferry.
Any questions, please contact Ann Marie on 0406 691 533.
Book Club
The Redlands Book Club is a group of Redlands parents – past and present – who share a love of reading. New members are always welcome! The Book Club meets twice each school term to discuss a book, rotating among members’ homes. Occasionally, outings are also organised to events, movies or shows that are tied in with books, including annual attendance at the Sydney Writer’s festival in May. If you would like to join Book Club, or simply want to know more, please contact Monica or Sabiha.
Book Club has two events coming up to end the year:
Mon 27 Nov some Book Club members will be taking a tour of the Jewish History Museum to complement this month’s reading of Mans’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl.
Our final meeting and Christmas lunch is planned for Thurs 30 Nov.
Behind the Scenes with RPFA: Meet your Class Parents
Class Parents (CP) play a pivotal role in building connections and fostering a supportive social spirit among parents and children outside the classroom. From welcoming new families, organising class playdates and events, to facilitating communication between the school and families, these dedicated superstars are the backbone of the Redlands community. Follow this series each week to meet your 2023/24 Class Coordinators and Parents, put a face to a name, discover what they do, AND keep an eye out for opportunities to join the team!

Names: Mayumi Staley and Jennie Cadman
Shared Role: Junior School Class Parent Group Coordinators for 2024
Kiddos: We have 8 children between us at Redlands in 2023! Redlands House Juniors, Kindergarten, Year 2 X 2, Year 4, Year 5 X 2. Jen is also a graduate, Redlander 2000.

If you could choose a Class Parent theme song what would be the title?
You Can Count on Me by Bruno Mars
Why did you decide to be a Class Parent?
We decided to volunteer to give back to the School. It’s important our children see us volunteering. We are also here all the time anyway ????
Why would you encourage other parents to volunteer for this role?
The best part is getting to know parents, students and staff at a more in-depth level rather than just the casual hello at the school gates – it becomes a community.
What’s a fun fact about you?
Our brothers finished at Redlands in the same year but we didn’t meet until our Year 5s were in Kindergarten!
If you were asked to write a survival guide for new Class Parents, what would be your two top tips?
???? Find out your teacher’s birthday immediately and pop in your diary
???? Introduce yourself to your class teacher and find out how you can help throughout the year
Parent Power Needed: Join the Team in 2024!
Nancie (featured in last week’s Note Day) is looking for a Secondary School parent to partner with her in 2024 as the Class Parent Coordinator. All you will need is a sense of fun, enjoy people wrangling, a Working With Children Check, and have a spare couple of hours a week. Contact Nancie to have a chat about the volunteer role via the RPFA.
Photo Gallery
On behalf of the RPFA our 2023 Junior School Class Parent Coordinators Catherine Grinham and Michelle McDonald organised a farewell gift for Mr Guha, the much-loved Junior School Principal who is leaving Redlands after 18 years of amazing service. These parting gifts were presented to him at a farewell event arranged by the School last week. The gift included a 40+ page Photo and Memory Book. He also received two limited edition Wedgewood bronze desk sculptures of a young boy and girl reading, representing the hundreds of children he has helped teach and support over his years at Redlands. A BIG thank you to all who contributed across the School to the collection and shared their beautiful photos and messages which made the book something Mr Guha said he will treasure for years to come. You will be missed, Ari!

Great turn out for the 3Y family BBQ at Cammeray Tennis Club. Kids and grownups had a ball!

2024 RPFA Committee
RPFA is a parent’s point of contact for Redlands community and social events, or general community support. The RPFA meets twice a term. All current parents are automatically a member of the RPFA and are welcome to attend meetings, volunteer to support events, fundraising activities and welcome new families. We all work together to build connections across our community and promote Redlands in the broader community.
