Late Arrivals and Study Period Attendance
The cohort was reminded in their Year Meeting last week that all late arrivals need to be accompanied by a parent note to SSAbsence@redlands.nsw.edu.au to be excused. If students are running late, they are expected to own this reason as unexcused and there may be a consequence to make up for this missed class time, depending on the regularity and severity of the late arrival.
HSC students were also reminded of the attendance expectation for Study Periods. Attendance is taken and recorded and all students are expected to be on campus in their assigned Study Period classroom for their attendance to be marked. Students use this time as they need to catch up on their workload and the accountability of being on campus for study supports students in remaining focused and using the time wisely.
Thank you for reiterating these expectations with students at home. We appreciate your support in keeping students focused.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
We wish the best of luck to our group of rising Yr 12 students who are performing or supporting with the play next week. A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be running 1-3 November in Week 4. We have several new students participating in this play who have not joined a theatre production in the past and we wish them all the best with their performance.
Students involved: William Algar, Scarlett Ilic, Max Rossiter, Hallie Hunt, James Stuart, Sholto Mirrlees-Black, Isla Dawson Damer, Tristan Minassian, Olivia Everingham
The International Chemistry Quiz
The International Chemistry Quiz is completed by over 100,000 students across 21 countries. The quiz endeavours to promote chemistry and chemical thinking. The questions go beyond what is covered in syllabus documents requiring the students to be applying their knowledge and understanding to stimulus material.
Congratulations to Jocelyn Wang who achieved a High Distinction which means she was in the top 10% of students in Australia.
