Senior Music Festival Theme 2024 – Kaleidoscope!

When Redlands lets its light shine…a kaleidoscope of sounds, colours and people come together!

Get excited for next year’s Senior Music Festival 2024 – Kaleidoscope!  We look forward to hearing student suggestions over the coming weeks for this theme, from our new Music Captains launching a survey to Ensemble members early next week. We can’t wait to see how this theme will capture the imagination of our students and let their light shine in new, diverse and collaborative ways!

Inaugural Senior Music Festival Composition Competition

For the first time ever, we will hold a competition for a student composition to be created and performed at the 2024 Senior Music Festival, written for and by our students. We know music isn’t just about performing, and we are so excited to see how our talented student composers interpret this theme.

The successful candidate for this competition, due early Term 1, will have their composition featured as part of the festival.

The composition should:

  • Imaginatively interpret the Senior Music Festival theme of Kaleidoscope
  • Be three minutes or less in length
  • Be written for an existing ensemble performing at the Senior Music Festival.

For more information, students should check the Music Department Auditions iLearn course.

Friends of Music AGM

The Friends of Music held the 2023 AGM this week. Attendees heard some of the highlights from another wonderful year of music making at Redlands, and we thank the committee for their leadership in this space.

We are looking for new leadership in this space, so don’t hesitate to be a part of our community!

If you would like to join Friend of Music, please contact redlandsfriendsofmusic@gmail.com

Junior School AMEB Presentations

AMEB instrumental candidates were presented with their certificates from Mr Guha in assembly this week. We once again congratulate these students for their efforts in preparing for these exams.

Launch of Training Strings

Ms Moses was thrilled to hold the first Training Strings rehearsal last week. The ensemble is already making a wonderful sound and students have shown such commitment, ensuring they are prepared for rehearsals having practised at home. After just two rehearsals, the ensemble is already preparing for their first performance in the Strings Concert!

It’s not too late to enrol in Training Strings. Please complete the Cocurricular enrolment form on Pulse and reach out to Junior Music with any questions.

Junior Campus Studio Concerts

The Junior Campus Studio Concerts will be held in Weeks 3 and 4 (more information on Senior Campus concerts Wks 6 and 7 to come!). Students are working hard to be ready for these performances. These lunchtime concerts offer a relaxed opportunity for students having private lessons at Redlands to share their journey with a supportive audience of family and friends. Please see below schedule for the Junior Campus Concerts.  Parents and guests are welcome and asked to enter through the Junior School Reception area.
