Year 8

End of Term

We have made it through another big term (they always are in schools) and I hope that both students and parents have some time over the next two weeks to slow down and take a moment to reflect on the last 10 weeks.

A general reminder that when we return our expectations for full summer uniform and grooming (haircut, make-up, nails, etc) are available in the Student Planner and we appreciate parental support with ensuring that these are adhered to from Day 1 of next term, Monday 9 October.

CIS Athletics

The following students competed at Wednesday evenings CIS Athletics Championships at Sydney Olympic Park.

Congratulations to Eva Simpson, Ava Atkinson, Amelie Dewar, Daniel Benoliel, Jeffrey Benoliel and Robbie Smith for their participation, efforts and hard work in their specific events.

Subject Focus – English

In English, Year 8 students are currently studying MacBeth. Today Year 😯 (Ms Mukherjee’s class) completed a reading of Act 3 Scene 4 – The Banquet Scene. To add some fun and flair (and to celebrate the end of term) the class held a banquet of their own as they read through the scene. At the head of the table is Robbie Smith as Lady MacBeth and Connor Grossman as King MacBeth.

House Debating

Apologies, as a few errors were made last week in the House Debating wrap-up. 

Our Year 11 adjudicators of Ahnu Guan and Jack Petering awarded McDouall (affirmative team) the debate. 

The correct list of representative for this particular debate were:

• McDouall – Zaira McHutchison, Alexander Heller, Bowen Shiao. Sam Turton
• Dumolo – Soraya Christian-Hare, Sophia Liu, Belle Monty, India Dutton

UN Voice Competition

In Term 4, Redlands students have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming UN Youth Voice, which is an annual public speaking competition for students in Years 7-10. Voice provides delegates with the opportunity to present their innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing issues.
