A Message from Year Advisors
This week, students interested in leadership opportunities for Yr 12 have been busily completing written and/or video applications as these submissions are due Friday at 4pm. All information for students is in the iLearn Pastoral Yr 11 Page. Last Friday, students heard from Mrs Van de Peer with further information about the application process and students were able to ask any questions at that time.
Alongside camp group and activity selections, year group photos, service initiatives, the Athletics Carnival, assessments and weekly study, it has been a busy and exciting time to be a Yr 11 student. Last week, our year assembly focused on what it means to take care of yourself first, set appropriate limits to ensure your own physical and psychological safety, find and focus on the good in those around you while being a good peer yourself and servant leadership. Students were asked to consider how acknowledging and acting on behalf of the needs of the whole group can positively impact an individual.
As the cohort grows closer each year and students realise how meaningful their peer relationships are, if each Yr 11 takes time to care of themselves, strives to look for the good in those around them and acts with positive intentions each day on behalf of the whole, there is no stopping this incredible group of young people.
Thank you, parents and carers, for your ongoing communication and support. It is so appreciated to ensure your children have appropriate measures in place for their personal and academic success.
World Ocean Day
This week, Redlands hosted an event celebrating World Oceans Day. Several Round Square schools were in attendance and further student reflections will be shared in next week’s Note Day.
Well done to the following Yr 11 students who volunteered to be involved in the event this week: Alisha Tang, Anabelle Cullen, Marcus Cooper-Hor, Scarlett Thorp, Anneka Steele, Mikaela Sanger-Larsson, Winter Penney, Lara Farrell, Emma Noes, Ethan Beggs, Tara Gold, Antonia Morgan, Tahlia Daily, Daisy Thomas, Celine Patel, Annabelle Harman, Ashley Stapleton, Eva Osborn, Angela Monty, Adam Leach and Lachlan Collyer.
Senior Theatresports
Redland’s Senior Theatresports Team competed against 8 schools at the Semi-Finals Theatresports Schools Challenge and placed Second! They will now perform at the Grand Final at the Enmore Theatre. The students are incredibly excited and this is an exceptional achievement. The students in the team are: Phoebe Barnett (Yr 12), Claudia Lalich (Yr 12), Hallie Hunt (Yr 11) and Sholto Mirrlees-Black (Yr 11). A special thanks to the Theatresports teachers, Sarah Sparkes and Amber Virtue, for doing such an outstanding job in training our students. The Grand Final is on Sunday 18 June, 5:30pm at the Enmore Theatre. Best of luck to this amazing team of students!
Assembly Presentations
On Tuesday, the Yr 10-12 Student-Led Assembly took place in Redlands Hall. Thank you to Mikaela Sanger-Larsson for reading a prayer and Zara Naismith for leading the Acknowledgement of Country.
On Friday, Yr 11 will participate in the Foundation Day Assembly. This is historically run for Yr 7 and 11 students with special alumni and guests in attendance. Sholto Mirrlees-Black will lead the Acknowledgement of Country and the following students will be assisting with welcoming and ushering guests: Isla Wickham, Charlotte Waterland, Ava Taylor, Flynn Kieran, Thomas Reeves and Clara Wall. Thank you to all student volunteers.
Push-Up Challenge
The ‘Push for Better’ Push-Up Challenge is in full swing! We currently have 73 people involved and as a Redlands Community we have completed 33,495 push-ups and raised $4,710. This is fabulous progress with all funds being donated to Lifeline to support those struggling with mental health. We are so thankful for all of your donations and you are still able to sign up and join the challenge.
We would love to see everyone involved through participating, supporting or donating! Many thanks for the ongoing support!
