NSW PSSA AFL Championships

Congratulations to Owen Beck on his involvement in these championships last week as part of the NSW CIS team which included thirteen teams across the state with the championships taking place over four days. As was to be expected Owen displayed strong leadership, ability and great sportsmanship, as well as representing Redlands by continually upholding the School’s values.

The CIS team put in an outstanding performance all week, and won 4 of their 6 games.  This team also secured the CIS 2024 team the coveted position in Pool A for next year’s Championships. Importantly to note his team were successful is making it to the Grand Final, losing to a very strong side from Riverina.

Owen was awarded “Players Player” for their second game, and kicked 1 of their 2 goals in that game. He was even awarded “mark of the day” from the commentators during the YouTube livestream. He was then given the honour of Team Captain for game 3. Lastly Owen was awarded the “Team Courage” award for his entire week‘s performance during the post Grand Final team presentation as he played through a fractured hand injury early in game 3.

“My favourite part of PSSA was making it to the Grand Final and ocean recovery swims with my team” – Owen Beck (Yr 6).

Please see the two photos below of this CIS team and Owen wearing his Silver Grand Final medal

HICES Team

Congratulations to our students who ran at the HICES Cross Country Championships on Tuesday. We had 40 students make up the 2023 Junior School team who left Sydney 6.30am for Scots All Saints in Bathurst and returned just past 7:00pm. We had 13 students qualify for the HCIES team that will now run at the CIS Championships in a few weeks. Not only did the team run well, they were a pleasure to take on the bus, were great ambassadors for the school and in between their own races they ran to different parts of the course to cheer on their teammates who were running at that time. We wish the following students the best of luck as they prepare for CIS Cross Country as part of the HICES team. Redlands as a school came 2nd place in this event, narrowly beaten by Central Coast Grammar.

Representative Team Photos

As you would be aware our Summer and Winter Representative Team Photos take place on Wednesday 31 May for all Junior School students who play a representative sport. In the same format as last year both Term 1 Summer Representative Teams and our Term 2 Winter Representative team photos will take place on the same day commencing at 8:30am. Please be aware that if you child has represented the school (playing matches on Saturdays) in either a Summer or Winter Sport then they will be required to attend the photos in their respective teams.  Your child may also be required for HICES, CIS and or other Redlands School teams.

Those students who are not needed in a representative sport photo are still required at school for normal classes and supervision before going to Wednesday Sport. Our normal Wednesday Sport program will take place as normal that afternoon.

A full package and photo schedule has been sent home on Thursday 25 May via Pulse news.
