Year 9
Arnhem Land Update
With less than two weeks to go before Yr 9 depart for their Camp to Arnhem Land, please read below for some important information:
Departure: Students will need to arrive at the Redlands Gym Undercroft no later than 5am on Sunday 28 May. We will be departing at 5.30am sharp for Sydney Airport. Please do not be late.
Illness: Students must take a RAT the night before – should they return a positive test for Covid, the must not come to camp.
Medication: If a student requires prescription or over the counter medication, this should have been communicated in the Medical Authority Form to Eddy Atkins via email. Please do fill one in (found on Pulse) if you have not done so already. This also includes students who might need to take allergy medication.
If students wear contacts, they may find it preferable to wear glasses due to the dusty landscape.
Please find a packing list here: Arnhem Land Packing List, and the camp food menu here: Redlands Midawarr Menu 2023. At the moment, the weather in Arnhem Land is reaching a top of 30 degrees during the day, and a low of 23 degrees overnight. It is imperative that students bring and wear a broad brimmed hat. Students should also pack hydrolite to place in their water.
Further information regarding the Yr 9 Camp to Arnhem Land will be communicated at the Experience to Extend Evening on Tuesday 23 May, 6pm.
Balmoral Burn – Humpty Dumpty Fundraiser
The Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn is an annual community fun run held on the last weekend of May. Every year, participants ‘take to the Burn’ to conquer Awaba Street’s 420-metre incline – one of the steepest streets in Sydney. Event creator, Phil Kearns AM, came up with the idea of running up Awaba Street as a thank you to the Royal North Shore Hospital after his son Finn received emergency care for suspected meningococcal. Now in its 21st year, the Balmoral Burn provides an ongoing opportunity for Humpty supporters to empower hospitals and health services Australia-wide. Every dollar raised has a positive impact on the work Humpty is doing to help sick kids in hospitals.
This year, Redlands has three teams participating in Balmoral Burn to raise funds for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation. The goal is for each team to raise at least $250.00 with a goal of $1500.00 total for the fundraiser.
To support Redlands, donations can be made via the following fundraising page.
